She's something special for sure, M8. I don't know that she's generally appreciated in the way she deserves. I put her in the same league as Bernadette Peters and Tracey Ullman. Over the top talent, that sadly have a hard time finding roles that give them the chance to do everything they are capable of, and to do it for the size audience they deserve.

IS this perfect casting or what?
Tony winner Bebe Neuwirth will play Morticia in the upcoming Broadway musical "The Addams Family." And the role of Gomez has been offered to . . . Nathan Lane.
He hasn't officially accepted yet, but the buzz around town this week is that a deal is imminent.
"The Addams Family," a $10 million production based on the Charles Addams' cartoons and sketches, is slated for the 2009-2010 season. Adam Lippa ("The Wild Party") is writing the score, and "Jersey Boys" creators Rick Elice and Marshall Brickman - the contemporary George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber (I'll let you figure out which is which) - are doing the book.
The show will be directed and designed by Phelim McDermott and Julian Crouch, who created the intensely spooky "Shockheaded Peter."
Lane had been set to appear in "Catch Me If You Can," a new musical by his friends Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman ("Hairspray"), but the offer to play Gomez, says a source, "is probably too good to pass up."

This sounds awesome. Moose, I may just let you pick the show we see during the USO in 2009.

Moose, thanks for posting this. I see a lot of shows but hadn't heard about this. I love Bebe Neuwirth so can't wait.
A quick recommendation for what it's worth. I really loved the musical "Passing Strange". It's not your typical Broadway show though. Really great rock/pop score. Based on the life of the musician Stew, who narrates the story.

Hmmmmm. Just got a 3 pack of tickets to see touring productions of "Spring Awakenings", "Rent" (have seen it twice allready) and "Jesus Christ Superstar" (seen a number of times as well) at the Kimmel. "Spring Awakenings" was the deal maker. since I have really wanted to see that. So you'd be spared my picking it, most likely.

Cool, I'm going to see "Spring Awakenings", "The Drowsy Chaperone", and "Wicked" (again) soon.
Still looking forward to "Legally Blonde: The Musical" in NY. Discount tix still not yet available for USO time ... but soon.

Anyone been keeping up on "The Search for Elle Woods" reality show? I saw the first few episodes and then fell behind. From what I saw, it looked like Bailey was the favorite.

Re: The Broadway/Theater Thread
*LOVED "Drowsy Chaperone" when I saw it on Broadway- 2 years ago I think? Very fun show.
*We've seen "Rent" three times- twice in NYC, once here in Chicago. Will see it again if it comes back to Chicago.
*To my surprise, I did NOT love "Spring Awakening" (it's singluar with the Awakening, not plural, folks.) Loved parts of it. Liked it. Just wasn't fully my cup of tea. Too unnecessarily convoluted for me.
*IF my flight gets in on time and I can sneak into a show Wednesday evening and/or if my man wants to see a show that Sunday, I'm thinking about "Passing Strange" or "In the Heights." Will also have to see what's playing around that time, if something else interesting opens up.....

It literally took me over a year to get my man to agree to attend this year's Tailgate. Couldn't convince him to go last year (I knew it was a lost cause, anyways, BUT, if I started my work on the 2008 Tailgate early enough.....) SO- he's in for this year. Almost definitely won't go next year. Hope I'm wrong. Hope at least that he'll join us every 2-3 years. (He just ain't into crowds. Or overlong, frantic conservations involving bossy, beyond-talkative folks. ) (Except for me, of course. )
Still- keep workin' on him, JT (in ways of course only we married boys know how to do, tee hee*.)

I saw the road company with Jasmine Guy and Charlotte d'Amboise. It turned me back.
