    Re: The Broadway/Theater Thread

    "Nine"

    "West Side Story"

    "A Chorus Line"

    "Dreamgirls"

    "Pippin"

    "Kismet"

    "The Flower Drum Song"

    "The King And I"

    "Fiddler On The Roof"

That's my start. In no particular order yet. But I had to get my plug in for "Nine", because it absolutely, totally knocked my socks off when I saw it.

    1. Cabaret
    2. Chicago
    3. Yunona i Avos' (it's Russian and it's the best performance I've ever seen)
    4. Jesus Christ Superstar
    5. Rent

I guess three of them are rock-operas, not musicals, technically
    If we're going over 5

    6. Evita
    7. Urinetown (just for "It's a Privilege to Pee")
8/9 Lil' Abner and George M ( They were really fun to put on and George M is a medley of George M. Cohen's music)1
    10. My Fair Lady
    11. The Producers

I'd add Porgy and Bess, but it's really an opera. And, in my personal view, so is Les Miserables

I'm fairly sure "A Chorus Line" will be on my on my top 10 list, but I haven't seen/heard it in its entirety yet

Moose, I've tried several times to see Nine and it never happened and I'm still sad about that.

I saw it with Raul Julia, Anita Morris (who was my favorite thing about it) Karen Akers and Lilianne Montevichi back in 1982, when I was living in White Plains. It was brilliant in every imaginable way.

I liked it too, but I liked the original best. Unless you're talking about the original.

Speaking of... love Grease the movie, don't love Grease the musical at all.

    3. A Chorus Line
    4. Stomp
    5. Dreamgirls
    6. Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk
    7. Chicago
    8. Ain't Misbehavin

I'm sure they'll be doing that episode of Zoey 101 as soon as Jamie Lynne gives birth.

People will watch anything with him in it. I can't say I blame them. I'm completely jealous.

Hair reminded me that Godspell has really good music. But it doesn't make top 10.

Another random - I love Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita, but I hate every other Weber musical

Five years from now, you'll be able to buy High School Musical DVDs for a quarter at yard sales, Charlie. Just think of that next time you see him setting record ratings for cable.

Did you see "Starlight Express"? Friends raved.

And if you can count Rice, I love the music from "Chess".

I have to admit to not having seen/heard that many (including both the above).

    I think it's because:
    1) A lot of his other popular ones are about cats, or lions, or other stuff that doesn't interest me
    2) I like musicals with either jazz or rock musical base and he has a lot of more operatic ones. If I want an opera - I'll go see an opera
