Rookie Nomar Mazarra does it all. Offense and defense.

Re: The MLB Thread
So, I'm at a Frisco AA game and our left fielder is Joe Jackson, the great great great nephew of Shoeless Joe.

Re: The MLB Thread
Getting close to play-offs.
Anyone following?
I will be, since Washington Nationals made it.
6 teams have clinched divisions, 2 wild card spots to be decided.

Re: The MLB Thread
This is the first year in like forever that I have not watched any baseball. I usually begin to watch after the All Star Break but I didn't this year. Who're the faves?

Re: The MLB Thread
The best record in the league belongs to....
Drum roll please!
z-Chicago Cubs ---> 101 Wins - 57 Loss
z - clinched division and best record in league
But I really don't know if that means much, the Nationals had a similar record going into play-offs last year but they didn't go far.
Who is the favorite?
Hard to believe it's the Cubs.
One thing is for sure, the Yankees are not in it.

Re: The MLB Thread
The scenarios for the playoffs, namely the wild card, are crazy.
It got even more so with the Tigers/Indians getting rained out yesterday. Theoretically they could have to make that game up on Monday, with the Tigers needing it to get into a tie for the wild card, which would then mean a playoff on Tuesday, which would push back the start of the playoffs.
And the NL - could have a 3 way tie, at least as of a couple days ago...
It is entertaining in build up, but I still contend a 1 game wild card "series" is dumb.

Re: The MLB Thread
It may be dumb...but some of the most exciting baseball games in the last few years have been those 1 game wild card series. Especially that Oakland-KC game a couple of years ago.

Valid, but I put it in the same category as the NASCAR chase.
I mutter under my breath and shake my fist leading up to it, and then promptly watch it anyway while doing those things.

Toronto is beating up on Texas 5-1 in the fifth inning right now.

Re: The MLB Thread
Not over yet...5-2 and Rangers have two on in the eighth. Wonder how long until Osuna comes in...Liriano came in but only was able to get one out because he just got hit with a comebacker to the mound and is being checked for concussion.

I'm quite depressed. I thought this was our year. There was something magical going on. Guess not.

Post season is a crap shoot like always
Best team doesn't always win. Jays best chance to wrap it up may be in game 3 with Sanchez on the mound...if Texas loses that one...I'd say it's a 50/50 series.
