Re: The MLB Thread
Great all-around night for pitching. There were also three 1-0 games and a 2-1 game.
Mets knuckleballer R. A. Dickey almost matched Cain--he allowed one hit and no walks while striking out 12. In his last five starts, Dickey has allowed 20 hits and one earned run in 40 innings, while walking three and striking out 50. That's not only unprecedented for a knuckleballer, it's a stretch up there with the all-time greats.

Re: The MLB Thread
They didn't give up much but Ichiro's OBP is .288 down from .310 last year. I'm not sure the Yanks get much at this point in his career.

Re: The MLB Thread
Odd to see Ichiro in a Mariners uniform tonight, especially at Safeco Field, but honestly we should have traded him three years ago.
Welcome to my crazy game of fetch.

I'm glad. I was afraid the Rangers were going to give away their farm system for a few months rental (just to keep the Angels away from him).

JMHO the Yankees got Ichiro three years too late. Of course they had no way of knowing what would happen to A-Rod last night.

Phils are breaking up their outfield before the trade deadline. CF Shane Victorino goes to the Dodgers, RF Hunter Pence to the Giants. Both do a lot of advertising and charity work in the marketplace here, they will be missed - especially, The Flyin' Hawaiian. Dodgers fans, you'll enjoy having him around.

Why do the Phillies hate the D-backs?!

Personally, I'm glad he stayed - love the guy. But Amaro seems determined to start a rebuilding phase, which is probably necessary, but sad because these guys have really come to have been loved by the city.
I am pretty sure Manuel is out at the end of the season as well.

I heard talk down here about Lee, but I thought they were just making that up. The Rangers are very secretive about those things, so no one ever really knows. That is one reason Chuck Greenberg didn't stay long as Managing Partner. He liked to talk and did too much talking during that last Lee negotiation. Ryan and Daniels did not like it.

Re: The MLB Thread
Apparently, the Rangers made a trade with the Cubs in the final minutes before the deadline for Ryan Dempster. Not sure who we gave up, but supposedly it is not any of our top minor league prospects. We needed Dempster because of our pitching injuries.
