    The MLB Thread

I was talking with Darcy in TATchat and remembered that a few of us on TAT are baseball fans. I figured I would make us a thread with current standing where we could also discuss results, players, trades, etc. I'll try to update these standings at least once a week.

    Current MLB Standings:

    American League:
    EAST:

    CENTRAL:

    WEST:

    National League:
    EAST:

    CENTRAL:

    WEST:

I swear, sometimes it seems like Jessie and I are the only left-coasters on this board.

    Which L.A., Kirkus?

Dodgers have the best record in baseball. The Angels, not so much.

I expect to be seeing similar lines between 50 and 60 times this year. Although the "left" part was a little surprising.

    Go Rangers!

We never have the pitching and now we don't have the hitting! We have a bunch of old stars for a year (Sosa and Lofton). And we traded away our top pitching prospect (Danks) for Brandon McCarthy. Now our other top pitching prospect (Diamond - a perfect baseball name) is having Tommy John surgery at 21 years of age! They don't know what they are doing.

    thanks for the pleasant reminder

This is their worst start in so many years. And with all the talent on the club, its absurb that they keep finding new ways to lose. I'll say this, however, they were very kind to me last night. They waited til the end of Lost to lure me back in so I could see them lose in the 13th inning.

Manuel (our coach), and Gillick (our GM) are getting a huge amount of flack in the press. Manuel almost got into an altercation with a reporter on Tuesday, and now that's all the buzz on sports talk radio and the sports page
Ssshh. Don't tell PEHK I am cheating on him with Dominic Thiem!

HUGE Red Sox fan here. Ortiz was on the best damn sports show last night and he is truly a very likable man. Ironically I see some parallels between tennis and baseball, at least from the legacy close games and matches leave me with the night after some player or team I am a fan of gets their heart ripped out. Needed years of therapy after the 86 Mets and even more after the ALCS loss in Yankee stadium 2003 (much like a variety of Hingis or Davenport matches). My only published editorial in life came when I did finally put in prose how I realized with MUCH shame how I needed to put sports in perspective after recognizing that I was in lower manhattan on 9/11/01 and I slept a few hours that night after the horrific events and never slept for even 5 minutes after Aaron Boone taking Wakefiled deep in ALCS 03. Something was clearly not wired properly, but life events and the World Series 04 did hopefully cure that. Anyway, I still have Yankee phobias and can't believe they seem to rise above all injuries. If we lost Schilling, Beckett, and Wake to the 15 day DL I don't see this team winning games but I am hoping the Sox can sweep the weekend series.

THANKS for starting the baseball thread.
