I like Aussie open and Wimbledon. What about you?

Re: Your favorite grand slam?
For me, it's Wimbledon and the U.S. Open... Living in the states, it's hard for me to follow the Australian because I have to stay up too late.

Re: Your favorite grand slam?
Aussie Open is so much fun.Us open lacks the classy crowd, so does the French open.

Re: Your favorite grand slam?
The crowds at Roland Garros and Flushing Meadows have definitely had their moments... But the chanting Cypriots in Melbourne are a blast!

ps-I like the AO, too.

Re: Your favorite grand slam?
The USO, but I haven't been to any other one. And attending is more fun than watching it on TV.

Re: Your favorite grand slam?
I have been to all but the Aussie. But I hear that the AO has the friendliest fans.
Since I grew up and now live in the shadow of NYC, I have to say that US Open is # 1. I like to be able to hop around from court to court and the Day session lasts into the night on the outer courts.
The French Open next-it cosmopolitan like the USO and I love Paris! The fans who attend are real die-hart tennis junkies.
Wimby- the tennis is fun, but you know that you are in a country club. You can't bop around from court to court like the USO.

Re: Your favorite grand slam?
The USO...because its electric, atmospheric. If the USO had a drivers license, it would ride a chrome covered Harley, wearing a pair of Oakley Razors. That Bentley known as Wimbledon would sneer at it as they were next to each other at a red light, but deep down in its heart, Wimby wishes it had some of that rebel attitude.

Re: Your favorite grand slam?
When it comes to the most prestigious grand slam it's hands down Wimbledon.

Re: Your favorite grand slam?
In no particular order
1. Wimbledon
2. Wimbledon
3. Wimbedon
4. Australian Open

Re: Your favorite grand slam?
Has to be Wimbledon for me.

Re: Your favorite grand slam?
Australian Open, mainly due to the condition that nearly all the matches from the 1st to the final rounds are well attended by the populace and the crowds, by appearance on the telly, are respectful and enthusiastic, as opposed to the USO where in the early rounds the crowds are sparse, likewise at the French. As a viewer it takes away from a good performance by players in a first, second, etc., round match that is played before a sparse crowd. Crowd appreciation and enthusiasm, either for a favorite player or just appreciating a good match, makes for good sports viewing. Wimbledon has tradition and prestige. However, as a viewer, not able to see pro tennis live and in person due to my locale, I appreciate the Aussie due to the aforementioned....the atmosphere, the crowd attendance, respect and appreciation for the players, plus the competition. The only thing distracting at the Aussie is the birds chirping away when the roof is on.

Re: Your favorite grand slam?
USO. It's my favorite because where I live I can see TV coverage live without staying up 'til the middle of the morning. I take the middle of the first week through the finals off from work. Just sit on my butt and yell and scream at the TV.

Re: Your favorite grand slam?
Would have to be Wimbledon because of the history and because my favorite players have all done well there (Venus, Serena, Davenport, Henman, Fed, Sampras...etc. except for Seles )
Second would be USO because of the excitement, the energy, and the fact that I live in NYC now and have been there a few times.
I love RG and AO too but it's really hard to watch AO matches in teh states and the quality there has not always been teh best. RG has probably had the worst matches out of all the slams in the past 6 years.

Re: Your favorite grand slam?
Two separate issues ... I like watching the USO best because of the coverage.
I enjoy attending Wimbledon best (tho never been to the AO). It's hard to explain, you can just feel the history, the strawberries and cream, waiting in line for tix ... all of it, the best!
It ain't what you eat but how you chew it.
