timing-wise, is it likely they arrived in Paris with it, didn't contract it there?

One of the replies: Ernesto did not test positive his coach did for sure false positive as he had it back in May

Is too late for me to fly to Paris and enter qualies as an alternate? I have some airline points that I haven't used for some reason.

Just because a person had the virus in May does not preclude them getting it again. Or even still having it, for that matter.
There are still many unknowns with this virus.

Don't rule out entering MD as an alternate yet.

I'm not familiar with this journalist, but I know many here are not on social media and may not see something like this. So take it with a grain of salt, but this is from someone with a blue check mark on Twitter, so likely legit. If my guess is correct, he's a sports journalist out of Serbia.

1,000 people barely covers all the credentialed tournament staff, operations folks, TV crews, and hospitality workers, before you even get to players and their teams. This is crazy. Ben suggested that they have to consider cancelling doubles (not based on reporting, just his feeling).

French Open allowed only 1,000 people a day, prime minister says

ARIS (Reuters) - The French Open will be able to welcome only 1,000 people a day, including players, staff and organisers, down from the 5,000 spectators it had hoped for, Prime Minister Jean Castex said on Thursday.

“We will apply at Roland Garros the same rules as elsewhere. We will go from 5,000 to 1,000,” he said, clarifying that those figures included players, staff and organisers.

With the coronavirus on the rise again in France, Health Minister Olivier Veran on Wednesday said that a maximum of 1,000 people would be allowed at major sports events starting on Monday, but it was unclear whether the Grand Slam tournament, which runs from Sept. 27-Oct. 11, would be included.
