I'm watching Nadal vs Coria (of course). I found the full match on TennisTV. Their archives go back to 1998.

That shot that Rafa made to seal the first set after winning four straight games had to deflate Coria mentally. Coria had BP for 5-2 first set and Rafa saved it sending Coria reeling.

Rafa was flat at the beginning of the match. The comms talked about a nasty blister on his left hand forefinger.

They're also talking about how without the modern racquet the shot Rafa made to seal the set would've been impossible.

    THE SHADE!

The camera showed Coria's wife Carla and the comm that's not Robbie Koenig said she's suffering with her husband. The response was in general or just with this match.

I'm sure many of us remember the drama with them.

I think no player has ever benefited from modern technology as much as Rafa. If Rafa were to even attempt that forehand with a wood racket, his elbow would not last one set. it would be shredded.
    Face it. It's the apocalypse.

I just checked. Guillermo and Carla are still together.

That fourth game of the 5th set. I still don't get how this 18 year old won this match.

Down 3-5 in the fifth set TB Coria, per the comm "played from memory" and hit a great passing shot.

I've always said 2008 Wimbledon is the greatest match ever. It took place three years after this one on a surface many said Rafa would never play well on. For that reason alone I will still say that.

    This match though.

If I'm Coria I would never want to hear about or see this match again.

Was Connors using graphite here and JMac wood?

Nice skirmish between JMac, Connors and a cameraman.

Okay. Rafa vs Coria showcases two great players comfortable on the surface and accepting of the challenges it poses.

You can literally see when Coria relaxes in the 5th set tb. It's almost as if Rafa was waiting for that to happen and he pounced. Coria couldn't get any more out of his body at that point.

Connors vs JMac also showcases two players very comfortable on the surface and accepting of the challenges it poses.

I'm still not sure who was playing with what kind of racquet but JMac was in the zone. At one point the comms said he had come to the net 104 times and it wasn't the fifth set yet.

JMac was courtside at the Rafa/Coria match.

I'm sure everyone thinks I'll pick Rafa's match but to me, for different reasons, they're both historic matches. It's a tie for me.
