    Re: '20 Racquet Smashing Contest

Sorry. After Garbi's wonderful display yesterday, this looks just plain petulant. "I want my Teddy Bear, momma!" For the duration of this tournament, any ATP player that takes more than one swing destroying a racquet should be locked in a gym and told he can't get out until he bench presses 125% his own weight. Soaking wet.

Pretty conventional, with a dose of Shapo explosiveness. I like the shape of the racket head at the end. The twistiness is nice. But not enough originality to win.

Zvonareva had her first epic meltdown that I've seen since her return. She tried as hard as she could to join the racquet smash thread, but was unable to break it despite several attempts.

    She's out of practice...

Zvonareva with a great throwing racket

Still that's not a bad bounce she got from that sidearm delivery...

The initial "spiking of the racket" is unusual, and she got a lot of force from the shoulder. Awkward but somehow works - very Vera.

Put is in the smash thread. It has some choreography, it has certain rhythm. If she had kept going all the way until reaching her chair, it could be hip.

She did--that clip cuts out I think three more tosses, the final one into her bag on the sideline

Djokovic, seemingly on his very best behavior right now, gave us an entry today. He never has a winner to me, but this is a bit better of a break than he usually gets from a single throwdown I think.

Not to a person, but to his image. He needs to be a choir boy this week and throughout RG. Racquet smashes aren't some big deal except when you're trying to repair your image of having anger problems you can't control. I didn't watch a ton of his match, so the ONLY reason I knew about this was because ESPN sent me an news alert about Novak losing his cool again.
