That was good especially since it only took one throw. Did the carnage continue when he sat down? If it did he gets a 10. If not I'll give him a 9.5. Zverev is my new standard.

No, it didn't really continue. So what that gif doesn't show is that it came after he slipped in his shoes, nothing bad occurred with his racquet before he destroyed it. Then he went to his seat, no further carnage to the racquet, grabbed a new one and went back. But after he lost the set, he made a big production of taking off and tossing his shoes into the crowd.

He definitely gets 10/10 for showmanship, even if it's obnoxious.

I like the second movement flinging. It really adds to the choreography.

Djokovic with a very interesting submission in his match today. I'll see if I can find it.

ETA: Okay, here's a gif of it, hopefully there will be longer gif or a video posted soon.

I think breaking the racket on one of one's body parts always deserves extra credit, even using a foot. Good one!!

Considering that you are also risking physical injury that might sit you for a while, it shows a commitment to the craft that is rarely seen.

Sloane just smashed her racquet in two hits. Hopefully there will be video since we don't get a ton on the women's side. I enjoyed the full tirade, which included the racquet smash and then an angered toss of the racquet near her seat as she walked back to get a new one.

It's very hard to find video of WTA racquet smashes. Maybe an enterprising fan got to it before they could take the video down?

Ugh! Okay. Every single league/tour needs to step back, look at the success of the NBA, and adopt as many of their practices as they possibly can to garner more interest in their sport. You want more video WTA, not less.

It was good. Especially since I had spent the last 10 minutes or so screaming at her "Break the racquet! Break the racquet!" But it didn't help.

She carried the broken racquet in her right hand as she walked off the court. Not sure if she plans to throw it in the first trash can she sees or cuddle with it in bed tonight or go all Justin Gimlestob on the first fan who tries to boost her spirits with encouraging words...

Coric had a decent smash vs Kyrgios, when he had no choice but to hit a front-facing drop-volley tweener. Nick had already hit his run-back tweener passing shot, so that probably didn't help. Coric's shot went way out. He spontaneously busted his racket. It was brief and violently sudden but destructive. All of the videos I find are of Nick smashing HIS racket during that match. Coric's is getting overlooked.

Saw an interview with Coric by Prakaj on TC about his racket smash yesterday. Borna said he let out all his frustrations about the match up to that point, and played better & calmer afterwards.

I can totally relate to the concept of therapeutic violence.
