    Halep-Serena 4th-rounder. Or Venus-Serena.

Sabalenka got a good draw if she can get by Kvitova, and that's a big if since she just lost to Petra. But she also beat her in the fall. The bottom half is pretty soft otherwise, with Sharapova, Wozniacki, and Ostapenko not in form.

Kerber got a great draw in my opinion. Keys got a decent draw.

I won't be surprised if Osaka doesn't get out of her section, meaning doesn't make R4.

    Best R1 match? Venus-Buzarnescu?

Bold prediction: with her injury and lack of match play and coach, Halep will lose to Kanepi

I honestly only think Sabalenka lost to Kvitová because she's already played 40 matches in the first two weeks of the season. Losing early was probably a blessing in disguise for her this week, and I think she'll make a deep run at the AO.

That top quarter is ABSURD! Simona even drew Kanepi again early lol!

If Svitolina wants to prove she can contend for majors, the time is now. Her path to the SF would be considered very doable if she had any history of performing at the Slams.

Sabalenka didnt just lose to Kvitova. She mishandled a big moment at the end of the match. It showed inexperience and emotional immaturity, to me. She has a few top 10 wins but a most of her run has been against players outside the top 50.

My rule is that in a field packed with players who have won Slams and proven they can handle the moment, I’m not picking a non-Slam winner, even the hot player on tour. Hardly ever does the hot player on tour win a Slam unless it’s an established champion.

Kanepi beat Halep in R1 at the US Open, right?
