How is the only musical to be nominated not nominated in the Musical/Comedy category?

Personally, I'm glad A Star Is Born and Bohemian Rhapsody are in the drama category. They are dramas centered around music, but dramas nonetheless.

'The Favourite' is probably my most anticipated movie of the award season. I'm not sure I've ever delighted so much at a movie trailer. I'm kinda blown away by the relative lack of love for "Widows" and for "First Man," two of the best films of the year by leaps and bounds. I mean Black Panther is fun and I've seen it 3 times but come on.

We're really looking forward to The Favourite--I think it opens here this weekend.

Overall these seem like lackluster noms--I gotta say that I'm kind of surprised not to see Toni Collette nominated for Hereditary. I also think that if they thought Contstance Wu was good enough in her role for a nomination, then Awkwafina definitely deserved a supporting nod. It also amuses me that Debra Messing is the only one nominated from Will & Grace, and she's the only one who is consistently not funny.

Shocked that Black Panther did not get more nominations.

I think the Kendrick/SZA song was a given, but yeah I'm surprised that if they were going to give it attention, it wasn't specifically directed at Michael B. Jordan, who really owns that film.

I'm also delighted by the love for BlacKkKlansman because I'm a lifelong Spike Lee stan, except it's not his best work or really even that close to it. Seems like more of a middle-finger-to-Trump kinda thing than anything, because he certainly doesn't pull any punches about connecting those dots in the film. Doesn't explain why Adam Driver is nominated, though.

I’m also bummed Widows didn’t get any. Just saw it last night, and it lived up to my high expectations.

I'm afraid I haven't gotten around to seeing much of anything yet this year. But I'm getting some great ideas from your comments....I hope you'll all keep the movie comments coming. GH
