Sabalenka is playing again this week??? She really is taking a JJ approach to the schedule. Does she even have a shot of making it to Singapore without a withdrawal?

I haven't done the math myself, but I'm also guessing 9th is out of reach?
    Thanks for the medal Johanna!

Maybe she feels fine, and if she's in form, why not keep playing and earning money and points and confidence? But is she really playing? She's on the entry list but not in the draw. Wonder if she withdrew.

So she can give her body and mind a rest and not get injured playing minor events at the end of 2018 when she is set to contend for GS titles in 2019? The JJ tournament every week formula may have been lucrative in event money, but she's not sitting home with a GS title either. Thiem looked like a shell of himself second half of last year after playing so many tournaments. It's a lot and it was one thing when she wasn't making deep runs, but she is now, so time to reassess the schedule. And I'm not saying play nothing at the end of the year if she's healthy, but not basically play every week. This was set to be her 5th tournament post-US Open.

Thankfully it looks like Sabalenka did withdraw.

If my dates math is right, Sabalenka has played every week since April 21, except for second weeks of slams and one week where there were no tournaments because of Fed Cup.

I assume they know what is best for them and their goals. Fans questioning players’ schedules with any seriousness has always seemed very strange to me. They are more aware of the risks and rewards than we are, and what works for one person may not work for another.
