    Re: Exhibition: 2019 Hopman Cup 12/29 - 1/5

Roger Federer’s Switzerland is into the Mastercard Hopman Cup final for a second straight year after the 20-time Grand Slam champion beat exciting young Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas at RAC Arena.

Federer overcame a scare in the first set tiebreak to win 7-6(5) 7-6(4) in 93 minutes.

The win game Switzerland a 1-0 lead in the tie – enough to book them a spot in Saturday’s final given they already beat Great Britain (3-0) and the US (2-1) earlier in the tournament.

Greece, who needed to beat Switzerland 3-0 to reach the final, made it a memorable tie regardless after Maria Sakkari was a straight-sets winner over Belinda Bencic.

She then combined with Tsitsipas to upset Federer and Bencic in the entertaining mixed doubles, providing Greece with an overall 2-1 win in the tie against Switzerland.

Unfortunately Tiafoe has been sucking for a while, if anyone hadn't noticed.

Interesting to see Mugu sit out, and get replaced by an American (Whitney Osuigwe)

I think they have just one alternate on site to fill in for any country. They've done that wrong country swap before. I believe the team technically gives a walkover, then plays anyway with whoever's available.

Germany will meet Switzerland in a rematch of the Mastercard Hopman Cup 2019 final, after Angelique Kerber and Alexander Zverev claimed straight-sets wins over Ash Barty and Matt Ebden.

It ensured a final round-robin win over Australia – the German’s third in Perth this week.

The stakes couldn’t have been higher for the Group A tie, with the winner securing a spot in the final against Switzerland and the loser sent packing.

But the Germans gained an early lead when world No.2 was a 6-4 6-4 winner over Barty.

And Germany’s spot in the final was secured when Alexander Zverev beat Ebden 6-4 6-3 in 76 minutes.

Judging from the match highlights, the final was a ton of fun. The atmosphere during the last point was ridiculous. Sasha was unbearable in the trophy ceremony.

I recorded it and watched this afternoon - some phenomenal play by all 4 players. So much better than the overhyped Serena Federer match. Agree about Sasha - Kerber didnít even bother to say anything by the time he finished running his mouth during the ceremony.
