Did anyone watch Kerber-Muguruza? It was entertaining, but Mugu looked lost and timid for much of the match. Curious what other people think. I like Kerber, but her slap-shot forehand started driving me nuts, for lack of aesthetics.

Federer vs Serena mixed doubles coming up soon. Probably the only time they'll ever meet in a competitive match. Roger seems to be playing ok, had no problems beating Tiafoe. Serena first have to get past Bencic

Alizé Cornet just stole the first set from Kerber in Perth 7-5 after being down 3-5. I think the tweener Kerber hit pissed Cornet off...

To those of you who missed the Australia-Spain tie early this morning -- what a treat! Amazing matches! As a fervent Ferrer fan -- wonderful to see him out there attacking with the usual fire in his eye and in his step! His customary never-say-die attitude -- some spectacular long rallies and fire bombs! I do hope you can catch the replay.

    Australia def Spain -- 2-1
...David Ferrer def Matt Ebden -- 76(1) 75
...Ashleigh Barty def Garbine Muguruza -- 63 64

Muguruza went 0-4 in Perth. Not a great confidence-builder. The match with Kerber was close on paper, but I only saw a few points where Muguruza dictated play, and she had a lot of chances to do so. Wish there was some reporting on what's going on with her - if it's just a confidence issue from lack of match play from last year, or something else. Sure hope she finds her form this year.

Considering there were question marks over the British teams participation due to their lowly ranking, they’ve beaten the Americans and Greeks and finished the group second behind the Swiss! Great showing by Cam Norrie especially

I watched most of one Muguruza match, but not the one with Kerber. I didn't think she looked terrible, but she did look like someone who would never make the top 10 in the world......which is pretty bad criticism for someone with Grand Slam titles who has been way up in the rankings for a few years.

Tiafoe on the other hand has been a big flop. Even Serena couldn't save him.

I think the other teams were actually hitting to him in doubles instead of Serena.

Muguruza's serve kept her in the match against Kerber. She wasn't stepping in and taking control of points. I'm hoping it's just a function of lack of match play last year. If she's healthy, surely she will get her confidence back.
