    To think it was only 16 years ago that Sampras won his 14th major and it seemed like an impossible number to beat, and yet 3 players have now matched or exceeded that total, and they've done while competing against each other. They've won 51 of 64 titles since 2002. This is the first major title for Novak in which he didn't have to beat another member of the big four on the way to the title.

    I'm already looking forward to the Djokovic-Nadal final (maybe semifinal) at Roland Garros in 2019.

    The only hurdle left for Djokovic is beating an in-form Rafa in Paris. The one time he beat him there does not count because Nadal had won zero of the European clay-court events before it instead of his usual three.

    It's a slippery slope deciding which wins don't count.

    Sharapova had 3 wins at the 2016 Australian Open that didn't count - so a failed drug test as well.
