Re: '18 Wimby Day 5 OoP & Discussion

Roger's first three opponents haven't been anything special, but still impressed with his concentration. No break points against his serve yet.

Mackenzie McDonald inexplicably one set away from the 2nd week of a grand slam. He has been playing some great tennis this tournament out of nowhere.

Also, somehow Isner had never gone past the third round here until today.

What's his deal? I'm not familiar with him.

Yes, but it helps to play Pella today instead of Cilic.

Former top ranked college player that looks like a stiff wind might blow him off the court. But if he wins today, he'll probably buy himself a year on the tour.

I actually picked against Rodina in the second round of the SP. because of her record. Now I don't feel so bad about it. Madison seemed pretty upbeat in her press conference. Said her mind drifted to her next match - and not because it was Serena - and she couldn't get her concentration back. What a huge missed opportunity.

I expected much easier win for Raonic than he's likely to get now.

I'm telling you, Novak played unbelievably well against Pouille in knocking him out the previous round. Doesn't matter what you think of Pouille. Because it was my survivor pick, I watched the last four sets and Novak's ball striking was tremendous in every department. Not surprised at all that he is hanging with Raonic. If Raonic wins as I expect he will, I bet he has an easier time in his next match.

Of course, I didn't see a point of their match today, so I might be way off base.

FWIW, That's accurate about Novak for what I saw yesterday during his match vs. Raonic as well. Novak was impressive. I'm not familiar with him, but from this match I know he's with Gunter Bresnik, who seems very selective with who he coaches with not a ton of busts on his record, so I assume we will hear quite a bit more from Dennis.
