Does anybody else get briefly confused when they see "Novak D." in the Live Scores, before realizing it's last name first?

Re: '18 Wimby Day 3 OoP & Discussion

About Caro/Makarova, there' gotta be a back story there somewhere. For those who weren't watching the handshake at the net was uncharacteristically curt and abbreviated.

Speaking of handshakes, Serena and Tomova had such a pleasant exchange at the net after the match that I thought they might exchange recipes. Of course, Serena is usually quite gracious when she wins. Which reminds me, I need to do some digging on Tomova. She seems to have a very nice and relatively complete game. But she is a totally new quantity for me. I know nothing about her. If anyone would like to make that research process easier for me, I'm all ears, so to speak...

It is impossible to play above your level, by definition. Perhaps she meant Makarova played above your average level. Well, yeah - that's how upsets happen. That's why they play the matches.

A Yahoo story suggested or even said that Wozniaki told Makarova "you won't go far." Is there some bad history between the two?

I still maintain this was all down to Makarova taking 2 toilet breaks. The camera cut to Caro a few times during the second one and she looked livid. Surely this proves that she didnít take these breaks because she genuinely needed the toilet. She did it because she needed to re-group and it worked. I was a little surprise that Caro even shook her hand at all really

One toilet break seems totally reasonable in a three-set match. No idea if two is over the top, but itís easy to imagine it wouldnt be. Regardless, Caro is professional enough to let such irritation go. Her fault for letting it bother her. Hardly the most egregious gamesmanship, if it was gamesmanship.
