Re: '18 RG Day 8 OoP & Discussion

I'm just reading today that Cecchinato basically got out of a match fixing charge on a technicality, so I'm not sure he's the underdog I want to cheer for (although I might have to in order to beat the draw in the SP)

Is he showing us that he coulda been a contender?

It has to be noted that both Kasatkina and Woz wanted play to be called at 1 all in the second set. They were told to play on.

It's really been a heck of a match.

I'm not sure why Kasatkina also wanted to stop play. Commentators were speculating that her legs were tired after that first set, but considering her slow start, not sure it's the best idea for her to stop play.

Both have continued to play great tennis.

And both are asking again, at 9:21p, for play to be suspended. Second set is tied at 3 all as play is suspended.

They'll have to suspend. No chance of this match being finished today now.

I admit, I'm late in replying to your post. But: Zverev has now won three 5-set-matches in a row, coming back from down 1:2 in sets, how can you possibly try any harder than that?

I know he is not well-liked here, but I think him doing not well in slams before RG '18 has more to do with the pressure he puts on himself than with not trying. (Although I agree that his post-match jubilations seem a bit awkward...)
