5 out with Kiki. But they were living on the edge with that pick anyway. Petkovic might be a shadow of her former self, but so is Kiki for the majority of the last year and she's never beaten Petkovic before.

Sharapova and Mertens pickers, please make a Day 3 selection in case your choice advances.

Re: FOSP 2018: Women's Picks & Results Thread

Welcome to Day 2 to TMQ: FO2018! It's a late night here at TMQ HQ, and ladies have been waiting by their phones all night long waiting to chat with me. But it's not what you are thinking, dirty-minded loser. It's today's losers lining up to let you know the score with your bogus pick. They've been waiting a long time, so most of them have spent the day staring at their WTA page profile pics.

Where It Went Wrong For You, the Loser

Anastasija Sevastova (8 victims) I look like a scared rabbit in my profille photo, and played like one for the last two sets on court today! TMQ has opined ad nauseum on why I'm a firm "never pick," but if you don't choose to read his highly entertaining daily recaps, that's not my problem. Your failure to appreciate good writing means your short dip in to the suicide pool is Sevast-ova.

Elena Vesnina (6 victims) My WTA profile photo looks like it was taken at a Glamour Shots in a 1990's mall, that's how old I am! And I've almost never won a match at the French Open, so why start now?

Kristina Mladenovic (5 victims) In retrospect, it was a mistake to take my profile photo in Melania's Christmas White House Hall, but the shadows serve to mask my despair and rage as I slide down the rankings. Don't think I'm not dragging you with me, loser.

Timea Babos (3 victims) My WTA pic resembles one of those Pamplemousse LaCroix memes, and like a Pamplemousse LaCroix, I started out my Round 1 match fresh and bubbly for about 10 minutes before turning flat, unappealing, and yet another reminder of just how much of the work day is still left.

Su-Wei Hsieh (3 victims) Really, 3 of you picked me? I look like that club pro who always manages to cut into the first 10 minutes of your court time while she packs her bags, adjusts her headband, and drinks flavored water, but I didn't have any problems getting off the court today! Hsieh you at Wimbledon, and here's some advice--bet against me!

Christina McHale (1 victim) I've never met a suicide pool match that I can't drag to the very agonizing limit only to fall just short. Perhaps that's why I look so tired in my profile pic. Catch me next at 7-5 in the third set at Wimby!

Oceane Dodin My WTA photo is as nondescript as my career, and yet I keep getting wild cards here. No one ever picks me to win, though, so thanks, I guess.

That's it for today. Tune in tomorrow for more adventures!

Day 3 numbers--we've got 2 no picks and 3 zombies today, so we're left with 152 by my often inaccurate count.

By the way, I've heard that the sound of a pin popping out from in between a wheel and an axle, sending an overloaded bandwagon careening into a ravine, sounds an awful lot like "VAN UYTVANCK."

    Alison Van Uytvanck 67
    Ashleigh Barty 15
    Kiki Bertens 11
    Shuai Zhang 11
    Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 9
    Taylor Townsend 8
    Johanna Larsson 7
    Carina Witthoeft 7
    Samantha Stosur 5
    Angelique Kerber 5
    Daria Gavrilova 2
    Caroline Garcia 2
    Irina-Camila Begu 1
    Serena Williams 1
    Marketa Vondrousova 1

We only lost the Witthoeft pickers?
Pray for tomorrow. It will not be REGRESSION TO THE MEAN. It will be A MEAN REGRESSION when we all pick...ah, Tati and the three Bondarenkos and look like dusty clochards by the end of the day.
    Count on it.

Aw, thanks! I enjoy writing them, so will definitely keep it up. I'll have another late night edition later tonight--hot off the presses for Europeans and night owls.
