Same could have been said about Nadal after he ran away with the first set. And yet look what happened in the second.

I would say that without the rain, there was still a better than 50% chance Nadal pulled it out.

Any time there's a massive and notable momentum shift, it's tough to guess what would have happened. The rain delay absolutely helped Nadal. Any sort of delay or weirdness in a match is helpful to the favorite/experienced player.

With that being said, it's udder madness (like how a cow gets crazy) to bet against Nadal in a clay final even down 1-3 in a final set. I think it has to get to at least 3-5, maybe 2-5, before you can put him at 50/50.

Do you have any stats on that? Nadal rarely loses a set on clay. I didn't see a point of the match, but I agree with suliso. Having won nine of the previous 11 games, the edge went to Zverev before the rain delay. Who other than Djokovic (twice, I believe) has ever gone on a run like that against Rafa on clay? Rafa had not been great in the previous two rounds, losing five games in a row to Fognini to dump the first set and blowing a 5-2 lead on Djokovic in the first set before taking a close tiebreak.
