I haven't found video but she pretty much destroyed her racquet

So far, this is the main thing I like about Pliskova.

Having our first entry for 2019, we should award last year's prize. My vote goes to Paire's tirade.

I agree. On the ladies side I liked KaPlis sending her racquet into orbit.

I thought I'd vote for Thiem because that was such great power ruining that racket to perfection and I didn't remember Paire's. So I looked it up and yeah, Paire gets my vote. That was one long angry tirade of smashed rackets.

All are worthy winners, but I'm going to vote for Paire.

One thing is......I don't know how to rank Gulbis throwing his racket out of the stadium. The fact that that action could have endangered passers-by makes it a more egregious crime than merely smashing the racket on the court. But on the other hand, this is a racquet "smashing" contest, so I like Paire as the winner, with all the others well worthy of consideration.

Going with Paire since his performance was deemed not fit for the Internet and deleted. If he's the one who blew a kiss to a booing crowd, I am in awe.

As I noted at the time, Gulbis's racket may well have remained in one piece once it landed out of the stadium. Scuffed up, but very likely not destroyed. DQ.

Definitely Pliskova on the women's side. It's the first time I realized she is not a robot.

Incidently, I smacked a racket twice on the court a few months ago. Totally out of character, but I did it. And it barely cracked. I could even still play with it for a few matches. You have to be really strong to destroy a racket.

Thiem. Notice something: the rhythm of the smashes. They take EXACTLY the same time between smash and smash.
    Almost musical.
    But...
In the name of WOMEN ARE BETTER THAN MEN AT A LOT OF THINGS: Pliskova. That racket did such a BOING with such fluidity.
    Missing winter...

Baghadatis. Breaking the ones still wrapped in plastic took it over the top for me.

I think you get another vote MJ. Pretty sure Marcos did that several years ago at AO not in 2018. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
