Re: Tennis on TV in 2018

    2018 Week 41 10/8/18-10/15/18

The ATP Master 1000 event takes place in Shanghai this week. Tennis Channel will cover Shanghai live each night, with match replays all day.

The WTA is in Hong Kong, Linz, and Tianjin this week. Coverage appears limited this week. While WTA TV will stream Hong Kong, and beIN Connect is picking up late week coverage, it does not appear as if Linz and Tianjin are broadcast.

Keep checking this page throughout the week for updated guides.

Re: Tennis on TV in 2018

Day 1 of Zhuhai was streamed.

Last night zero, zip, nada on WTA TV where they were supposed to be streaming every tournament.

    Here's the official statement:

    Response from WTA TV

"Unfortunately, due to rights and restrictions implied we will not be able to publish Zhuhai Elite tournament in WTA TV anymore. We do not have any further information regarding the tournament being restrained." (sic)
I think Tennis Channel + is showing it.

The WTA is a total hot mess.

Re: Tennis on TV in 2018

Tennis Channel Plus is definitely showing WTA Elite Trophy. I'm able to go in late today, so I'm watching a little of the Paris Masters, and they went to the split screen a few times and showed what was going on at the Elite Trophy and said it was available on TC Plus.

But WTA is absolutely a hot mess. It's just a guess, but I think that BeIn's loss of major providers triggered a clause in the agreement with the WTA that allowed them to back out of the US portion of their contract and switch back to Tennis Channel next year without a large penalty and it's going to help them seem like way less of a mess. But I have serious doubts that would've occurred without BeIn losing major providers so I'm not willing to give the WTA credit for that without knowing more.

So it looks like Next Gen is airing live on Amazon Prime Video starting November 6th. There doesn't appear to be traditional TV coverage or if there is, not for the beginning of the tournament. I saw the note about Prime Video on the Next Gen Twitter account.
