I'm enjoying watching the Volvo Open this week. Chanda Rubin has been calling matches on main Tennis Channel. Really hate hate hate this BeIn contract.

I completely loved a moment yesterday during the live broadcast when Ted Robinson said, it's been so great bringing you some WTA action for the last month and again this week before it goes into the Witness Protection Program for the next couple of months and we'll see you again for the French Open.

The impact of the ESPN+ will hit tennis for the first time next week. Wimbledon qualifying shifts to the paid streaming service. Last year qualifying was on WatchESPN.

In addition, it looks as if ESPN is move a number of courts to ESPN+ as well.

EPSN+ is 5 bucks a month, but you can get a 7 day free trial.

If you already have ESPN you don’t have to pay extra for watch ESPN or ESPN 3. ESPN + is an extra cost even if you pay for ESPN on cable.

Re: Tennis on TV in 2018

Guess we'll see how this works, but ESPN doesn't typically have like 12-15 feeds for courts, as this list suggests may be on ESPN+ anyway, so not sure if we'll actually be getting less than we typically do. I'd think when it's actual matches we'll get a better feel for what is happening. I don't think they'll attempt to piss off cable subscribers that much since they are struggling to hold on to them, but could be wrong. But regardless, I'm not inclined to pay ESPN anything more than they get out of me already.

So far I've been staring at a static picture of the Young/Purcell match featuring Mr. Purcell for about ten minutes.

I've had to sync and restart three times so far.

I'm totally not impressed with ESPN+ so far
