Re: UPDATED Women's Picks & Results AO SP

I really thought Vesnina would be a safe pick....ah... wait a minute....note to self....there is no such thing in a survivor pool as a safe pick.... What I do know is that I'm out of the pool...

Here's how our 20 remaining players have called it for Day 7:

    Muguruza: 15
    V Williams: 3
    Kerber: 1
    Cirstea: 1

    TOTAL: 18
Winston, a.k.a. Alvena Rae Risley Hiatt (1944-2019), RIP

Okay, next time I find myself boxed in by the draw, I'll make a reasonable pick and forego a chance to make a pick for the final! Poor Cirstea, just totally outplayed by Mugu.

She looked way better last round. It wasn't just because she was playing Garbine this time either, who was very on today with no signs of injury. Cirstea looked totally uncertain out there, like a different player than the one who was constantly going for her shots the other day. She was even losing points she had the advantage in, just truly not her day.

I hadn't seen Cirstea play during this tournament, but I would have been surprised based on stats if she could have pulled off an upset. I thought Muguruza was playing with confidence in her previous matches, so I wasn't surprised by the outcome. And Mugu certainly was on for this one, agree 100%. Sorry I didn't get to see Cirstea play better in an earlier round.

Cannot believe we had a dreaded No Pick today! But that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. We are down to 17.

Here's the breakdown for the Day 8 women's picks:

    Konta: 11
    Lucic-Baroni: 5
    S Williams: 1

    TOTAL: 17
Winston, a.k.a. Alvena Rae Risley Hiatt (1944-2019), RIP

And what a pity because Brady is going to win!

I dunno. Lucic-Baroni clocked Radwanska en route to the fourth round. Brady had to save match points against Watson and is outside the top 100. Seemed like the obvious pick to me if I had a pick to make.

Or maybe not. I need to learn how to acquire sulisoesque jinxing powers.

And all 17 of you are safely through to Day 9! That should be BIG fun!

17 of you were eligible to pick. Unfortunately, one person made a double pick (had already used today's choice) and we lost another to the wilderness of No Pick Land.

So we are down to 15. And here's how you called it--in many cases, likely against your will:

    No Pick: 1
    Double Pick: 1

    Vandeweghe: 7
    Pavlyuchenkova: 5
    Muguruza: 2
    V Williams: 1

    TOTAL: 8
Winston, a.k.a. Alvena Rae Risley Hiatt (1944-2019), RIP

Sidebar: My meatballs are in the oven, and the aroma in the house is heavenly. I've never done a better sauce.

Now, back to business. All eight of you got your picks in! Excellent! Here's what you did. We are guaranteed both losers and survivors--as has been the case throughout pretty much this entire pool:

    Karolina Pliskova: 5
    Lucic-Baroni: 1
    Serena Williams: 1
    Konta: 1

    TOTAL: 2
Winston, a.k.a. Alvena Rae Risley Hiatt (1944-2019), RIP
