Is it true Washington picked up Mark Sanchez?! They've given up on the season?

He is their starting QB now. They signed, as a backup, Josh Johnson. Richard Sherman has an interesting opinion about that signing.

He played in Monday night's game after Colt McCoy went out with an injury. Twitter had a ton of "Is it 2009?" jokes since Mark handed off the ball to AP for a TD.

Josh Johnson? WOW! I mean, Josh Freeman or EJ Manuel feel like more defensible pickups. Josh Johnson? Was he ever anything other than really a team's 2nd backup and a long term project? I'm completely confused at this point because I thought teams were trying to prove they were not colluding against Kap when I see every one one of these moves as definitive proof that they most certainly did and still are.

As someone who lives within cycling distance from Nissan Stadium, I'm finding the pre-, during- and post-game writeups of Jaguars vs. Titans inordinately entertaining, including this fantasy tip:

It's being called "the lateral heard round the world"

Amazing on its own. More amazing that it happened to the Patriots. pic.twitter.com/7YhDJlpplP

So far, what a week. Henry's performance and this lateral. And the game was pretty good, BTW.

My favorite part is Gronk stumbling at the end and missing the tackle. Although if you go back and watch it, there's at least another couple players who are just hanging back and not even attempting to get close enough for a tackle. Belichick is gonna roast a couple of them this week me thinks.
    Thanks for the medal Johanna!

    Re: The NFL Thread

I have been reading a bit about the lateral and some of these experts are simply being dumb. That play will work once in one hundred times. Yesterday it did. Now some of these experts (the same guys that gave Pittsburgh a -15 spread for yesterday's game) are coming up with "oh, Gronk should have never been on the field" or "oh, the Pats players were not moving". Again, that was as flukey and as out of nowhere as Henry's game on Thursday, Chris Boswell slipping on a make-able FG attempt (and the subsequent Steelers defeat) or any other of these odd things.
I really dislike the Pats. But yesterday was simply a fluke (although super fun) play. Glad it happened to New England, but no need to crucify them.

The Dallas game had a flukey ending too.
