I imagine most NFL owners would focus on the suspension too.

    Re: The NFL Thread

What I find sad is that the NFL apparently has evidence that law enforcement doesn't. He receives the maximum suspension from the NFL but no criminal charges were brought. Something doesn't add up.

Reminds me of when the NFL got FBI agents to investigate the missing Tom Brady jersey...they are better at law enforcement than law enforcement.

The NFL doesn't necessarily have more evidence. The evidence just doesn't have to meet the same threshold as a criminal charge. Prosecutors may have considered the evidence too inconsistent to bring charges, but that doesn't mean there was no evidence.

Update: Edelman done for 2017 season

    8/26/2017 12:22:09 PM

In an update to our previous story, and MRI has confirmed that Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman suffered a "complete ACL tear in his right knee" and will miss the entire 2017 season according to Albert Breer of MMQB.com.

While this is terrible news for Edelman and Tom Brady will miss his favorite wideout, perhaps no team in the league can better absorb the loss of their No.1 WR than the New England Patriots. Brandin Cooks and Chris Hogan are likely to see the biggest increase in targets, but Danny Amendola potentially could play more snaps while Rex Burkhead could see some time in the slot. Turning 32 next May, Edelman is not guaranteed a speedy recovery. With no more guaranteed money left on his deal, it is not inconceivable the Patriots decide to move on.

    Ah, man.

I'm not a Patriots fan (at all) but I hate to see news like this. The disappointment must be horrible for him. Hoping he recovers completely.

Chicago Tribune headline: NFL players' union names Colin Kaepernick its Week 1 MVP for his charity work

And in related news, Sheriff Clarke claimed that Kaep doesn't walk his talk. Twitter wasn't having it:

    Re: The NFL Thread

I recently read an article in which one NFL guru said his fearless forecast for the year was that the Cowboys will not make the play offs.
I doubt it because that is one weak division once again but yesterday made you wonder.

As you watch Trump attack the NFL, remember he is the business incompetent who personally destroyed the United States Football League.

Trump wanted to buy @buffalobills from the Wilson estate. @NFL told him he wouldn't be approved for ownership. Resentment long time brewing.

Trump is the only owner I remember from the USFL. But, is he really the reason it went down?

Watch the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary "Small Potatoies" some time.

    Short answer: Yes.
