CoCo Vandeweghe has won all eight games since this scene. Quite the reversal.

Wound up being 10 straight for Vandeweghe after that lengthy break (which was one of many for her). US into Fed Cup semis, 3-0 over Germany.

Well, if Keys and/or Stephens doesn't get it together she will be more or less by default.

Take a page from the Vandeweghe playbook, Fed Cup sound people. That's how you disrespect Andrea Petkovic.

THE UNITED STATES DEFEATS GERMANY, 4-0

The United States moved into the Fed Cup World Group Semifinals for the first time since 2010 today with a 4-0 sweep over Germany at the Royal Lahaina Resort in Maui.

Prior to play today, Coco Vandeweghe earned the second point for the U.S. over Julia Goerges after Goerges was unable to compete due to a right knee injury. Vandeweghe was leading 6-3, 3-1, over Goerges yesterday before rain suspended play.

Vandeweghe then went on to clinch the tie for the U.S. with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-0, win over Andrea Petkovic. It was Vandeweghe’s first win over Petkovic; Petkovic had won the last three meetings. Vandeweghe is now 3-3 in Fed Cup singles matches, while Petkovic is 12-8.

Following the 3-0 sweep, Alison Riske’s match, scheduled against Goerges, did not take place. World No. 1 doubles player Bethanie Mattek-Sands then teamed with Shelby Rogers to face Laura Siegemund and Carina Witthoeft in the dead doubles rubber. The U.S. took an early 4-1 lead before the Germans retired due to a right elbow injury by Siegemund.

The United States will face the Czech Republic at home in World Group Semifinals, held April 22-23, for a chance to compete for the 2017 Fed Cup title. Germany will compete in the World Group Playoffs in April to remain in the World Group for 2018.

This Coco sure seems like a handful! Are people suggesting her time out was needed as she wasn't playing well up until that point? Or that Perko is such a flake that she lost every game after that because she annoyed? Or that Coco is a cheat?

Can it be a mix of all three? Although I think calling her cheat goes a little far, since we see this with many many many players (cough Federer cough)
