Womens Day 14(Saturday) Pick and info on Tiebreak
ATTN:
Topazkarma
Fedpras
Herodotus
Gerardo
Morct
Netraider
to our remaining 6 players (those that still have one player alive to win the French):
Awesome job! You are one pick, and one win, away from beating the draw. All of you have earned the right to have your name on the TAT Wall of Fame in recognition of taking the Frech '06 Suicide Pool.
But, we've got to declare a winner, for purpose of prizes. So, we're gonna pick not only your player (yeah, all of you choose Henin, but you have got to post it here, that is part of the rules), but have you PM me with selections for a tiebreak.
Tonight (or tomorrow), I will send you a private message...you can reply to the pm, so that no one else will know your tiebreak answers. That way, no one will have an unfair advantage.
Since there are 6 left, and all 6 only have Henin left as a pick, we'll use two tiebreaks.
The first tiebreak is: Total number of games played in the Womens final. I know everyone is a huge tennis fan, but so that there is no misunderstanding, here's an example: If Justine beats Svetlana 62 63, the total number of games PLAYED would be 17. Likewise, if Svetlana beats Justine 64 46 75, the total would be 32. So for your first tiebreak, you want to guess the total number (which means you have to decide if its going to be 2 or 3 sets). The person that is closest, EITHER over or under will be the winner.
The second tiebreak (if we still have a tie after the 1st breaker) will be Total number of points won by the champion. For example, in beating Kim 63 62 today, Justine won a total of 62 points. Svetlana, in beating Nicole 57 76 62, won a total of 115 points.
The winner of our game gets a prize from Jon Werthiem of Sports Illustrated, and also has the honor of choosing any player of their choice to be added to our rotating players banner at the Top of the Website.
If you have any questions, please let me know.

Re: Womens Day 14(Saturday) Pick and info on Tiebr
Part of me wishes that I had picked Henin in the semis so I could have picked Kuznetsova to win it all, but obviously none of us think that is going to happen (unfortuntally).
My official pick: Justine Henin-Hardenne

Re: Womens Day 14(Saturday) Pick and info on Tiebr
Just like the final match, my pick is a mere formality. I know Kuznetsova is a major winner and I obviously thought she would do well in the French, but Justine is going to win. If Vadisova wasn't so inexperienced Kuznetsova wouldn't even be in the final. The only way Kuznetsova wins is if Justine's mysterious Aussie ailment returns.
Justine Henin-Hardenne

Re: Womens Day 14(Saturday) Pick and info on Tiebr
I'm a "limbo" winner. LOL Hey I picked JHH today! ;D
Good luck all! If I had only saved JHH for the final! I used Kuzy too early so I had to use JHH for the semis which left me with no one for the final. I guess five other people did the same thing that I did. So 6 of us are in 2nd place and the winning six go on.
The remaining six should all get something. Good luck with the potential Grand Slam Herodotus, hope you and Federer contiune.

I am a citizen of the most beautiful nation on earth. A nation whose laws are harsh yet simple, a nation that never cheats, which is immense and without borders, where life is lived in the present. In this limitless nation, this nation of wind, light, and peace, there is no other ruler besides the sea.

Re: Womens Day 14(Saturday) Pick and info on Tiebr
I was just wondering what happens if Kuznetsova ends up winning, since we all chose Henin. If someone guesses the correct number of games and points, but for the wrong winner (Kuznetsova in our case), does that person still win the tiebreak?

yes, Fedpras, even is Svets wins, the tiebreakers will determine who gets the prizes. That's why we just had you pick the # of games playes, and the number of points by the winner.
It will only mean that none of our 6 finalists gets credit for beating the draw, which is the ultimate challenge of the game.
