What's Connors' record? 111? So if Fed wins a few more tournaments this year and gets to 100/101, he'd still need to keep up a similar rate for the next 2 years?

I'd still guess no, but it's not outrageous. I'll clock it at 20-30%.
Connors record is 109 so Roger is still 11 titles short. It does sound a lot at nearly 37, but if he wins say another 5 this year...

By the way Roger still not the oldest Slam winner in the Open era. That record still belongs to Ken Rosewall (1972 AO, 37 y, 1 m)
    Roger forever

Looked up Fed's birthday. August 8th, so he'll still be slightly younger at the US Open. Starting at the Australian Open next year, he can take over the record.

Rosewall might be the oldest semifinalist too. Looks like he was 43 or 44 during his last AO SF run (not sure when the AO switched from December to January).

No matter how weak the AO might have been back in the day, those stats for Ken Rosewall are AMAZING. It's also interesting to see how quickly (relatively speaking) they are forgotten.

Stats are forgotten, but Rosewall himself still well known to those who care about the history of tennis.

I'll remember him for telling Thiem to his face that he sucked in his first Slam final!

Ken Rosewall had he greatest SLICE backhand in history. He played nothing but slice and could still hit passing shots with it.
Aussie open switched from Dec to Jan in 1985. They played the Aussie in Dec 85, then the next one was Jan 1987. There is no Aussie Open 86 because of that.

Ask all the players that have never won a tournament if they think that Connors' record is soft.

99! It would be pretty awesome for 100 to come at the WTF. Longshot though.

Would love for him to win it, but with Novak's current form....
Probably, his 100 will be at Halle. Or the Chichicastenango Challenger...

So Connors sits at 109, so with Roger only 10 behind he could catch him in 3 years. Roger has averaged about 5 titles a year (4 so far this year) so it's not impossible, though probably unlikely. It will depend on how much longer Roger decides to play, and how frequently his body lets him play over the next few years.

And how much he wants that record. Let's say in two or three years he's ready to retire but wants that record and is just a few away. He could judiciously play a few 250s a year and try to break it. Couldn't he win Newport?

I never thought he'd break it but he's within range.
