Safin (he has to win a tournament sooner or later, right?)
I've picked him for two weeks and he's lost. I was tempted to pick him this week too, but I don't think he's quite there yet. Plus, he can never deal with Moscow crowds (he always complains they are too demanding of him in press conferences). And Davydenko seems to be in great form. I am pretty sure Safin won't win a tournament until Paris, where he tends to do great.

But I shouldn't be giving advice to competition [/quote]

Oh-oh, Shamil Tarpishev (Russia's tennis patriarch) said Safin will win the tournament. He's pretty much always right. Maybe I should rethink!

Wahoo! Eight for eight! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is the first time in TAT history that has ever happened. Just kidding, but I'm still pretty excited by it. And you should all turn your heads and cough in regards to my predictions for the other 4 tournaments.

    Great job Charlie,

I guess you are winning this weeks men's pool.

bad week for me, Masha just withdrew, Andy doing well and I picked against him, shame on me.

Well congratulate yourself too, silly. You have the exact same Moscow predictions as I do!

    Re: Predictions Week of 10/9

The blood has been shed fairly equally so far this week. Only 5 points currently separate the person currently in first and all other predictors this week except for one. But this is where it comes down to whose predicted winners and finalists are still around, and which ones actually come through. And that will probably be the big difference this week as it usually is. But anyone who has at least two or three winners left is still very much in the hunt.

Well I think I have the most finalists still around (or at least tied) with 7 out of 10, but you and Mmmm8 have the most winners still around with 4 out of 5! And I thought I was doing well with 3.

with my luck, they all get to the final and lose in straight sets.

Mmmm8, what's helping you more than anything, I think, is being the only one who didn't jump on the Sharapova train this week. Several of us had Petrova to make the final, but only you had Chakvetadze to make the final and for Petrova to win. That's 9 points right there if Petrova wins tomorrow that no one else will be getting.

Yup, I went with my haunch that Masha is cursed in Moscow, plus Chakvetadze has enough game and fire to beat her even if they played. I've seen he play, and she has a somewhat similar attitude on court to Sharapova - she's really focused. I got lucky with King making the final too.

But I'm afraid now that giving up on Marat was a big mistake. He might go and win the tournament just to spite me. Stupid Clement!
