I think it would mean more if she beat someone in the top 10 to get it - she needs to win an important title.

I think Kanepi is a pretty good win, even though she was just coming back from injury. Kaia has beaten Caro many times, including in Asia last year. I think it's a good start and good for her to use this tournament to get confidence rather than just playing all the biggest tournaments and losing match after match. That's what she did when she started her decline and it took her a while to get back to playing some decent tennis again.

Laura's still very much a work in progress. If all goes well in another year or two players of Hseih's caliber will not be able to trouble her anymore.

The dismay I saw on Laura's face in the last set when Hsieh was making her charge, was part and parcel of Laura's immaturity/work in progress. She's so young yet - she'll get there.
