Fun article on the ballkids in Toronto. Includes mention of who gets to work the marquee matches, problem shorts, and the crews at Wimbledon and USO:

Isner was stinky today. Gasquet has lost his party gut.
Welcome to my crazy game of fetch.

Looks like Aga has no interest in being a slamless #1, losing 2 & 1 to Li of all people. Either she's got some injury she hasn't told the world about or she's completely lost the plot from the first half of her year.

Remember that A Radwanska mentioned that she was tired during the soft surfaces part of the year.

MONTREAL, QUEBEC
P. KVITOVA/M. Bartoli
6‑1, 6‑1
THE MODERATOR: Questions in French, please.
Q. You were saying that against her you should take initiatives and be aggressive, but apparently it didn't work out.
MARION BARTOLI: I believe today her performance was extraordinary. When she plays like this, it is almost impossible to play against her. I had break opportunities, and every time she served an ace.
I don't believe I totally missed my match. She was just too good to give me any chances.
Q. When she plays at that level, could you compare her game to Serena's or Sharapova's?
MARION BARTOLI: She does winners extremely fast. Against Serena I won once and I lost once, but I never had this impression in the rallies that I couldn't do anything.
Today, against her, I was under the impression I just couldn't play. I believe she is able to play a winner from anywhere on the court and whatever the ball you send her. In fact, she takes away from you the control of the match.
I never felt like this against Serena or Sharapova. For example, when I was serving well, she returned a missile. I had absolutely no control.
Q. You were saying after SanDiego you were on a good roll. Is this going to stop you, or will you be able to forget?
MARION BARTOLI: You always need to draw the lessons from a loss. I believe I need to see what I did wrong so that I can improve and do better next time.
But globally I am now playing with a better basis, and if I keep the same attitude during practice, I believe I will be able to make more progress.

Gasquet does not defeat Nole since 2007. From that moment on they played 4 times. Nole won all 4 without dropping a set. But today he was really tired, I think Gasquet can beat him in the final.

Re: Rogers Cup ATP M1000/WTA P 8/6 - 8/12/2012
I just turned on Safarova-Li to see Safarova win the last few games of the first set. 6-3.
Go Lucie go! I saw her play in Madrid and she is very impressive. Laser focus at all times, and there she showed she can actually play with few errors. I was bummed she eventually withdrew from that event after a couple good wins.

Ouch. Safarova broke to go up 5-1 in the third set, then tensed up and lost six games in a row. Sorry, Charlie.

In the past two years the Rogers Cup has been one of the best tournaments for players outside the Big Four but Djokovic still wins and keeps the Masters 1000 events in the hands of Big Four - it will be interesting to see what happens in Cincinnati.

Nothing out of form has happened in Cincinnati is years, unless you count Fish making the final two years ago, but I wouldn't. He was on a hot streak.

True, but in the past nine years the Rogers Cup has been won by one of the top four and four years ago in Montreal the world top 8 made the quarterfinals - one and only time that has happened on the ATP Tour. Djokovic is the first of the top four to win the tournament three times and in comparison only Federer and Murray have won Cincinnati so the Rogers Cup has gone to form more often in recent years then most tournaments so the events of the past couple of years are a change.
