A few less notable results: Tatishvili (GEO) beat Liechtenstein flagbearer Vogt (6-2 6-0), Timea Babos (HUN) over Voskoboeva (KAZ) 6-4, 6-2. In women's doubles Li/Zhang (China) oust Dulko and Suarez (ARG), 6-4 6-3. And Nieminen (Finland) over Devvarman (India) 6-3, 6-1

I'm surprised Babos took out Voskoboeva. I hope Suarez gets to play mixed. It's sad that she unretired just for the Olympics and lost right away. Still, it's a nice consolation prize for Li.

They're done for the day, even though could play under roof.

One more semi-notable result: Nishikori beat Tomic in 2 TBs

    Whoa whoa whoa.

Paraguayan 'WHO?' Cepede Royg took the second set off of Lepchenko. Then the rains came.

Re: Olympic Tennis Day 2 OoP & Discussion

Julia did what she is rarely able to when it comes to playing the higher ranked players - she put together an almost complete performance. Served great, kept the forehand under control, and stayed mentally strong when it looked to be slipping away in the 3rd. Her quote prob sums it (and her) up well
I played pretty aggressive and served well. I know if I play well it's dangerous for anyone and it was today, a lucky day.
Opinions are too mixed, I think, to make many conclusions about the speed of the courts. It normally appears to be slower when the roof is shut. That - and the lack of elements - probably helped Goerges.

Was it beyond the resources of Lotto to make a red dress for Suarez-Navarro and Radwanska to wear? Maybe even 2 of them so that they had one each.

Stan wasn't at his best today. He served poorly and made a lot of unforced errors. Andy played fine and that was enough.

Tsonga vs Bellucci was good entertainment.
