Re: 2012 Wimbledon Day 10 OoP & Discussion
This could be a fun treat. The women's invitational doubles match of Martina Hingis/Lindsay Davenport vs Helena Sukova/Andrea Temesvari is available on ESPN3. (http://espn.go.com/watchespn/player/...n3/id/540852/#)
If you can't get ESPN3, I'm sure that stream is being rebroadcast somewhere on all the various livestream sites.

Serena and Aga have only played each other twice, both times in 2008. One of those was at Wimbledon, in the 1/4s. Serena won 4 and 0.
Good luck at Wimbledon, Kohli

Serena is too strong on grass. I guess there is little to no chance for ARad in the final right?

I actually think Radwanska has better chances against Serena here than she would at the other slams. Grass really helps Radwanska's serve. She places it well but with little pace, so when grass makes it skid away it becomes dangerous. I think she outaced Kerber today. It also makes her backhand slice even trickier.
Serena also gets visibly nervous at Wimbledon more than any other slam.
All that said, I would still only bet on Radwanska if she had something like 20-1 odds.

Yeah, I dont think ARad can be discounted - If Serena is off a bit that will give her much more of a chance.
But Serena seems to be getting better and better in the serve department

Wow. Half of Serena's first serve points were outright aces? That seems pretty wild.

I will be super pissed at Serena if another one of her opponents in a grand slam final becomes a first-time grand slam winner, ala Sharapova and Stosur! You'd better win this one Serena!

Didn't she have similar numbers in her 2010 Wimby run?

She also turned away a few first-timers, TA. Jankovic at the US in '08, Vera at Wimbledon in '10. So it's a 50-50 proposition

Possibly loaded question: does a win over Serena mean as much anymore? I don't know that I personally think of it as such a big deal anymore.... even if it's a slam final. Certainly a bigger deal than say a victory of Venus now. But I dunno, I guess I don't expect Serena to win quite so much as in previous iterations, especially after some of the flame-outs we've seen. She'll be the lower ranked player of the two, as well.

In an early round: no.
In a slam final: yes.

And what's wrong with that? I mean Serena was also at some point a first time GS winner. And btw, one of those you mentioned has accomplished a career Grand Slam, so she is not some random GS winner.

I have to agree with that. That loss to Stosur was shocking, although I feel Sam's win was far overshadowed by Serena hysterical behavior during that match, which is very unfortunate because Sam played amazing tennis overall.
