After the upgrade you'll have the option of logging in with your Facebook account. This is fine if you want to do so. But this will create a brand new account for you!
I have the ability to merge your old account into this new Facebook account. But make sure this is what you want to do before you ask me to do it... there's no way to undo it once it's done.
If we stay with this upgraded forum rather than move to the new platform in January, TAT will make available a Facebook App that will allow you to be active in our forums within Facebook. The attachment shows what that looks like (I use the app from vBulletin in my Facebook account).
This decision doesn't have to be made immediately. I just want you to know what happens if you login using FB, and what options you have now or possibly in the future.

Funny you should mention that. After working on the Recent Posts Bars issue, I started working on the awards. I wasn't going to say anything until I was more confident that it would work, But it looks like we'll be able to keep the awards system pretty much the way it is too. I found a couple of developers who picked up the project and have it upgraded to work on the upgraded forum.
Unfortunately our current chat room will not be able to go with us to the upgrade. The chat software itself hasn't been updated or maintained for several years. And I haven't updated it since first installing it back in 2007?
I have found what looks like a really good replacement though. I'm running it through it's paces today to make sure it's stable and will work for us.

This new chat system appears to be stable. We'll give it a go and see what happens.
I stayed up late last night and slept in pretty late today so I won't be dead tired half way through the upgrade tonight. I've run several dry runs () over the past few days and it looks like I can get it done in between 6 - 7 hours. So hopefully *knocks on wood* we'll be back online by 7am (Eastern) / 4am (Pacific).
I'll probably die afterwards and need to sleep. But there will be a new thread set up for you all to post any problems/questions, that I'll check as soon as I can.
I know many of you access TAT through the Tapatalk mobile app. This, too, will be upgraded and should continue to be a good mobile app for our forum.
If we stay with this upgrade, we'll probably also offer access through the mobile app, Forumrunner. And eventually, at some point next year, TAT should have it's own dedicated FREE mobile app available in the Apple Store and Android Marketplace.
