If I were you, I would go ahead and make my day 7 pick, to be safe.

Says someone who doesn't have five of his six picks still in the tournament?

Haha, for real. Unless my five hangers-on lose, pronto, my future in this game is looking Road-Warrior-desolation bleak.

So you've made it to week 2. ALL 153 of you!

    Wow...

    On with the breakdown:

1 double pick (please check previous pick)
    3 NP

Baker 2: I think this is the end of the line for Brian, but with him anything is possible. Still, he'd lose against Tsonga next round.

Del Potro 1: I'd be more inclined to like this pick if I hadn't seen Ferrer's last two sets against Roddick. Scary stuff.

Federer 2: too soon. Walk in the park today.

Ferrer 3: if he keeps his Roddick beating form he should wear Del Potro down and win probably in 4-5 sets.

Gasquet 100: yup, the triple digit bandwagons keep on rollin'. Against Mayer you'd expect him to win, but we're too seasoned to call him a safe pick in any instance.

    Istomin 2: Sayonara!

Kohlschreiber 5: I think at this point everybody has used him in one round or another. I think he wins against Baker but it's not a given.

Murray 4: Andy has not been as consistent lately, but still, he's my pick to make it out of this half. I think it's too early for him.

Tsonga 8: maybe one of the easier choices out there; but he's a solid quarter's pick as well.

Youzhny 22: excellent choice for those who had him. Win today; lose tomorrow.
    Go time.

Oops, my decision to avoid the Richie bandwagon and go with Youzhny is not looking so good right now.

I know how you feel :sigh:, although I'd already used Gasquet so that wasn't an option....I did consider going with Federer though.

I was on the bandwagon and stepped off, talking about bad decisions.

(Unless Gasquet loses as well ofcourse, but don't see it happen.)

    Mikhail, you hero!

Breaks back at 4-3, saves breakpoints at 4-4 and 5-5 and wins it 7-5.

Richie's down but even if he loses I won't whine. I never hesitated and never considered any other pick.

Agreeing with garp and luke. It would be great to do a Borg/Nadal French/Wimbledon back-to-back, but no tears and had fun if the beautiful backhand doesn't come through (allons-y Gasquet).

    Re: Men's Picks & Results

Actually, my initial intention had been to take Youzhny- but, for some reason, I went with Gasquet. UGGHHHH. (NOT that I would have enjoyed waiting for the Youzhny result after the Mayer and Cilic horror shows.....) It's always so nuts- as, I know the cliche is to stick with your first choice- BUT, sometimes of course I've gotten screwed over by sticking with my first choice, and sometimes I've gotten messed up with making the change. I did dodge a few bullets with this year's Roland Garros when I changed my mind with some of my picks.....Face it, it's always a crap-shoot making choices with these mugs for players.

SO- while I still want a new pretty little imaginary medal, which means Richie better get his pretty ass in gear tomorrow - I'm mostly content because of today's Petra, Sabine and Kerber results.
