Women's Day 1 Pick - Wimbledon Suicide Pool

Welcome to TAT's 8th Annual Wimbledon Suicide Pool. Over the next two weeks, you're invited to join a few hundred other tennis fans as we celebrate all the joys and frustration that accompany picking players that have given you no clue whatever how well they can handle playing tennis on grass. Instead of trying to make an educated pick, you might be better off taking Will's approach:

W: "Look Kate. I picked Tamira Paszek"

You will be making one pick EACH DAY of the Women's event (NOT one each round), and once you use a player, you shall not be allowed to use her again. There will be a “picks and results thread” posted after the day 1 threads are closed so you can check the choices you have made.

It is very important that follow our posted schedule of play for the day. Day 1's matches include the 32 first round matches from the TOP HALF of the Women's Draw.

Post your Day 1 pick by replying IN THIS THREAD. Your pick must be in before the scheduled start of play for the day in London, rain or shine, that is, Monday, June 25th at 11:30 a.m. (NOTE - it's one half hour earlier this year) London time. For those in the US, London is five (5) hours later than the east coast 6:30 a.m., and eight (8) hours later than the West coast 3:30 a.m. Don’t be late as we hate making those hard decisions, but we will. The thread will be locked at the deadline, so don't wait until the final minutes.

Since the object of the game is to pick a player that you are sure is going to win on that day, should your player withdraw, she obviously cannot win her match. You do not get a substitute (lucky loser) - you have chosen a player, not a spot in the draw. You might want to scout your player and make sure there is not a known injury or illness issue.

If you change your mind after you make your pick, and before the deadline, please make a second post advising us of your change - PLEASE DO NOT make your change in your original post, as we often go through the posts before closing to begin the task of updating the picks and results, and we might miss a change if you edit your original pick.

Good luck, and let our game begin!
