Sara/Maria: WHO YA GOT?
Womens final at the 2012 French Open features a resurgent Maria Sharapova versus upstart Sara Errani.
Sharapova goes into the match as the newly minted (come Monday) WTA #1, and looks for the chance to become only the tenth woman in tennis history to hold a career Slam. Throughout this Slam, the movement of the former "cow on ice" has been solid, and her serve has been steady. Can she keep nailing those solid groundies and not give Errani a chance to get into the match?
Errani started the tournament as #24 in the rankings, but came in strong, with a QF appearance at this year's Australian, and 3 titles in 2012. "Sarita" comes into her first Slam final after having scored her first wins against top 10 players (prior to the French, she was 0-28 against the Top 10).
Career H2H - we got nothing to go on. Surprisingly, for two 25 year old veterans of the Tour, they have never played each other in a WTA event.

Re: Sara/Maria: WHO YA GOT?
I think Maria in 3. I think she'll grab a quick set and have trouble closing it out and then recover.

Re: Sara/Maria: WHO YA GOT?
I think it depends on the conditions...if it's sunny, dry with no wind then Maria all the way.
If it's damp, a little wind with slower conditions - Sara will hold up the trophy.

Re: Sara/Maria: WHO YA GOT?
I'm voting Errani in straights, just to be contrary.
Welcome to my crazy game of fetch.

This was one of those polls that, when I posted it, I thought could end up with 37 of 40 votes for Errani in 2, just because.

Wouldn't it be something to see Errani hold the trophy?? What a dream tournament for her, doubles champion, maybe singles champion too…

There's an elaborate, embarrassing, superstitious reason for that, that I'm totally not going to get into.

Re: Sara/Maria: WHO YA GOT?
Sara Errani: Meet Martin Verkerk, Mariano Puerta, Alberto Berasategui and Michael Pernfors. You have a whole lot more in common than you can think off.

She can't hear you. She's over there talking to Anastasia Myskina, Iva Majoli and Francesca Schiavone.
Alternate Post: I do expect Sharapova to win. But an upset wouldn't shock me.

Re: Sara/Maria: WHO YA GOT?
It's Roland Garros.
Sara Errani in a decider.

Re: Sara/Maria: WHO YA GOT?
No, Sharapova in straight sets - I think she is ready to be at the top again.

Re: Sara/Maria: WHO YA GOT?
I say Maria in straights, but it definitely wouldn't shock me if Errani pulled the upset. I'm 70% confident Maria will come out on top.
