Re: 2012 FO Day 8 OoP & Discussion

Berdych/Del Potro suspended due to darkness but Tsonga/Wawrinka play on...they may try and stop it now.
Oh heaven...I wake with good intentions but the day it always lasts too long... Emeli Sande

expedition, ponchi? Or just trying to catch the wind? Looks like you succeeded

Her form has definitely shaded since IW. Not necessarily by a huge amount (afterall, she was still the finalist in Stuttgart and Madrid), but enough to make a difference. Serve has become a bit erratic....I think since she played Barthel in IW.....possibly related to her shoulder problem. And really clay, where that slight lack of penetration becomes more of an issue than it is on hardcourts, is not her best surface. As a result, she's also lost a little of the emotional equilibrium that she began the year with.

For future success on clay I feel she will need to evolve her game. Flattening out her groundstrokes could help her get the ball through the court more easily. She also has a lot of untapped potential in terms of her hand skills and deftness of touch - could mix up her play more and come towards the net......shortening up the points. Maybe Mauresmo can help with the latter. But as we know, becoming more of an all court player is a lot easier written about than it is done.

A good day for some of the midget gems on tour, what with the Domin-utive one and wee Sara winning, plus a credible showing by David (Goffin) against the tennis equivalent of Goliath.

Kerber vs Errani should, I think, be an entertaining match when we get to it. Errani has picked up the baton from Schiavone and brings a lot of variety, nous and real fight to every match (she's probably needed all of that to get this far in her career).
