Re: UPDATED Men's RGSP Picks & Results Thread

Firstly, congrats to those who made it this far!

    Now, on to business:

Almagro 16: in a duel of clay courters, one expects the more accomplished one to succeed. Advantage Nicolas.

Tipsarevic 6: strong showing by the Serb so far. I expect him to win here and then amuse us all in a slug-fest with Almagro. Timely choice.

Murray 5: injured and all I have a hard time believing Andy will lose here. Next round might be a different issue, but I still expect him to win that match as well.

Ferrer 2: no contest; but unless you're counting on an upset, you've just probably missed your chance to beat the draw.

Gasquet 1: gutsy pick, not only because he's playing Haas, but because he's Gasquet. You never know which version will show up. Still, I think this person will fare better than the next.

Haas 1: skillful veteran goes up against talented Frenchman. If both are on, it could be a beautiful match. Based on recent results I expect him to lose -but would not be surprised if it went the other way.
    Go time.

So, we will have 30 for day 8. Now, it's just a question of who will be the 30th - the Haas picker or the Gasquet picker.

I'll be able to make my day 8 pick once the thread is started, but if I survive int day 9, not so sure. I'm flying out on a business trip early tomorrow and from there it will depend on connectivity. My flight back is on Wednesday.

So if I wind up as a no-pick, that would be why.

Thanks to all the TAT teamsters in making this another successful pool.

*sigh* Tommy, we'll always have that first-set tiebreak...

Didn't somebody get a pick by proxy this go-round? Can Skan email me his theoretical picks and I'll post for him?

Getting another TATeur to post picks is fine (even encouraged). Just please don't ask the staffer running the pool to do it.

    Good luck!

Is this a passive aggressive barb?

For future reference, what would happen if I were to PM my pick to a friend and they forgot or didn't check their messages? If they could prove I chose in time would it be accepted late? That's the reason I sent my pick to you.

The other option I considered was using the offline email, but I didn't know if that would be checked except in case of the site going down.

    ...and my thoughts:

Tsonga-Wawrinka: my feeling is that Jo will prevail even though he lost to Stan at RG last year. I get the sense that Jo's been more stable () and his game has more dimensions than Stan's.

Del Potro-Berdych: comlpete crap toss. If JMPD were completely healthy I'd have chosen him to win, but Tomas has been playing well the entire clay season and has no health issues. Advantage Tomas.

Federer: I expect Goffin to fold like Seppi at Rome (but as I write this he's taken the first set playing confidently and is holding his own). I now expect Roger to win even if it means playing 5 sets.
    Go time.
