Serena's loss is a bit of a wash since she was on so many teams. The question will be whether those teams that didn't have her fare any better.

I'm 9th and had her (so did person in 8th) so it certainly wasn't 100% crippling.

The problem would compound moving forward. You're no longer adding points from that spot on your team, while the non-Serena teams do. You might near the top of the teams with Serena, but the there would be an ever-widening gap to the teams that didn't have her. At least until they start losing players also.




Speaking of which, I was feeling really good after Serena lost, with my fairly rare top pick of ARad. Pffftt. So much for that. Worse for you, ptm, as you're now down two women already. I checked my team in the standings and was shocked to find that I had Cibulkova as my third women. Well, I guess I know what I was thinking about when I picked her. She's into the fourth round already today, but I'll be dropping off the pace anyway.

It appears that only five teams made it through the first two rounds completely intact. Losses early today by ARad and Ivanovic have knocked that down to only two--jkfriedman and tinamarie.

TAT rounds out the medal positions with Tinamarie in second [2009 RG Runner up and the only contestant left with a fully intact team], and waylandboy-tm [the second round leader and 2011 USO Runner-up] in third. Tennisgamer Kunawalia [2012 AO Champ] and TAT's Martini4Me [1st round leader] complete the quintet that have in excess of 1,000 points through Round 3.

So jkf, you have the yellow jersey and have the opportunity to name the tier titles for round 4.

Wow - Martini4Me has Cibulkova on his SKan ... the only one to pick her. That's a major advantage given her win over Vika today.

After the conclusion of the Round of 16 [Round 4], Martini4Me sails back into the lead. Cibulkova is really paying off for M4M here, and with that comes the right to nominate the tier titles for the Quarter-finals.

Only Maddison [multiple previous winner] has also passed the 1,400 point mark. jkfriedman [2010 USO winner] rounds out the podium positions. Then we have a cluster of 7 posters jockeying for a position in the top 5. Of course there's still lots of tennis to be played!
