I've known of the name of it for a while, but I didn't know it originated with gangsters, and I don't think she did either. I honestly thought it originated with hip hop artists and their friends, and she might have as well

I also think it was just a harmless mistake on her part. I don't really think she meant it at all in the way it's come across.

She knew: “Actually, there is a name. But I don’t know if . . . it’s inappropriate,” Williams said. “It’s just a dance we do in California.”

At the end of the day, it is Serena being Serena.

I like Serena's tennis. I don't care for her arrogance or poor sportsmanship. But good grief. You win an Olympic gold medal -- you get to celebrate any way you want. You shouldn't have to sit down first and think through the possible ramifications and choose the most appropriate celebration to please the twitterverse.
