Re: Ladies' Wimbledon Picks & Results Thread

I dunno… I don’t see many, if any, of these picks losing today. Or, they’ll all lose and prove me wrong. Yet again.

    Today’s BotDs are:

Miss Jarmila Gajdosova (28) - These must be the ones who don't think she's going to beat Woz in the next round.

    AND

Miss Jie Zheng (28) - Losing five games to the Zuz doesn't bode well for the rest of her tournament…

    Other big vote getters:

Miss Ana Ivanovic (24) - Over/Under on fist pumps: 2,357.

Miss Agnieszka Radwanska (19) - Hasn't dropped a game yet, and doesn't have a tremendously difficult section.

Miss Dominika Cibulkova (14) - Had a tough match against Lucic in R1. I think Hercog will be better. Better as in easier.

Miss Maria Kirilenko (13) - I really favor Tammy T in this one.

    And the rest…

Miss Lucie Safarova (9) - Had Zakopalova not almost blown it in round one, I would have thought she had a chance. Instead, advantage Crazeh Eyes.

Miss Flavia Pennetta (8) - Sure. If she wins, she won't beat The Maid in the next round.

    Miss Caroline Wozniacki (7) - Ba-zing!

Miss Julia Goerges (6) - I wonder if we'll have another Caro/Julia meeting. But this time, it's not on clay.

Miss Shuai Peng (6) - Plays fiery Brit Baltacha - good luck.

Miss No Pick (5) - She's very consistent.

Miss Marion Bartoli (3) - Is riding a lot of momentum, killed her first round opponent, and has a beautiful draw… up to Serena, anyway.

Miss Melinda Czink (3) - Should be able to follow up her upset of Stosur by beating The Yak.

The good news is my Thursday pick, Cibulkova, has already won.

The bad news is my Wednesday pick, Wickmayer, could be five minutes away from going out to Tatishvili. Who?

Quick! Mid-day avatar switch to make sure the bandwagon gets through!

Good grief. So much for saving Aggie Radwanska for a later round.

I see no one picked Sveta today. Wonder if everyone was saving her, or writing her off?

I felt bad picking her so early, but I don't like her draw ...

I fall into the "hoping she loses so I don't have to deal with her unreliable ass" category.

If I'd picked Pennetta as was my original plan I wouldn't have to sit here watching every wonderful game go to deuce in the Safarova/Zakopalova break point extravaganza.

Re: Ladies' Wimbledon Picks & Results Thread

    Hello again all!

We started Day 3 with 194 and we lost 8 right off as No Picks, as well as the following:

    Errani - 8
    McHale - 2
    Niculescu - 1
    Parmentier - 1
    Pavlyuchenkova - 1

That leaves us with 173 eligible to make a Day 4 Pick. Quite a bit less carnage than in the first two days! (Though we have quite a bit to make up for it on Day 4, which I will post as soon as it finishes.)
    I'll miss you!

I picked her in the first round because I knew there's no way I would pick her after. I had the same thought when I picked Wozniacki for today.

You know, I looked at the list of possible picks and though, "Gee, Lucie Safarova is really the most reliable player, and all others fail in comparison. Clearly, she is the only choice for me and no other is worth considering."
