Yes - we'll lock the thread right before the awards start, so feel free to make any changes up until that time.

For future reference, this is an experimental picking method. For categories I don't know much about (most), I based my predictions not on other people's predictions, but on a combination of the category name and the movie title that gets the highest number of hits on Google. In theory, this should represent the buzz as well as people predicting it to win. We shall see what the masses know...

Re: 2011 OSCAR PICK' UM CHALLENGE

Just because everyone's calling it for The King's Speech or Social Network, my gut says True Grit takes Best Picture.

(I say this having only seen one of these three films (King's Speech) - the other two are on my short list to rent)

Since I'm only really qualified to discuss King's Speech, I don't think it deserves Best Picture. I enjoyed it very much and Colin Firth was excellent, but as a whole I didn't find the movie to be at Best Picture level.

Bah, I don't watch the Oscars anyway because I hardly ever agree with their choices (I'm still mourning Bill Murray's loss for Best Actor in Lost in Translation).

If you live in a city with theaters that cater to art-house pics, you might be able to see them. Both the live action shorts and animated shorts are showing at the Magnolia near me.

I don't think it deserves best picture either. But, it's not a terrible choice Crash. They've done worse Crash.
