Surprised that Marvin Hamlisch hadn't already made this thread. I had the great experience of seeing him at the Majestic Theater in San Antonio back in my college days. My parents had tickets and suggested I try to get a ticket through Will Call (turned in tickets) and I landed a seat in the second row on the side of the stage where the keyboard was and got to watch his hands fly over the keys (I'm sure dry can appreciate).

My favorite version of my favorite song of his. And I say that out of love, not cynicism. This is incredibly special. I hope they got to meet in Heaven.

David Rakoff has died, after a long battle with cancer. I never thought his essays were all that funny in print form, but liked the work he did on This American Life.
