The Technical Questions/Doubt thread
I will come to the collective mind of TAT to help me with this.
I bought a DVD a while back, of a concert. It is actually better than I thought, and some of the songs are much better live than from the original CD (as expected). My problem is that I would like to "copy" these songs into any music format. Any ideas if this is possible? Some software out there that may do the trick?
Thanks in advance.
(I'm running windows XP, have Cyber DVD as a DVD player, plus MusicMatch jukebox for music, as well as all standard MS software).

Re: The Technical Questions/Doubt thread
If you search download.com or just google "DVD Audio Ripper" you should get some free software.
Here's one for with a fully functional 30-day trial:

Anyway, I know where to look now. I could not figure out doing a search for DVD Ripper
Sorry, they lied on the website! Hope you end finding the right program, they must be around.

Re: The Technical Questions/Doubt thread
Here's a question about browsers.
My computer has been really slow for the last few weeks. I always use Firefox (for Mac). I just downloaded Google Chrome and I can't believe fast it is - it's screaming along. Seems like the latest version of Firefox has speed issues, so I'll probably stick with Chrome until this gets fixed.
My problem is the bookmarks. I'm a heavy bookmarks/folders user, and Chrome doesn't let you display bookmarks along the left side. You have to click a few times to get to your bookmarks (and more if they're in a folder).
Does anyone use Chrome, and have you figured out a way around this? I'm disappointed, cause it looks like I'll have to go back to Firefox as soon as they fix the current speed issues.

Chrome is my everything! I have a few bookmarks displayed under my url bar thing. To get them there, just right click on the bookmarks toolbar, select add page, then put in the url and name it!

Re: The Technical Questions/Doubt thread
Thanks! Your everything, huh?
I already have some stuff in the bookmark bar. My issue is with the over 100 bookmarked items that I now have to click on "Other Bookmarks" to get to, instead of just seeing them on the left side of the page. Oh well, looks like Google just needs to catch up here.

Re: The Technical Questions/Doubt thread
Anyone bookmarking with a browser should really really switch to delicious.com It's all I use now, has an add-in for Chrome, IE, Firefox, and it's cloud-based so my bookmarks go everywhere I go.

Re: The Technical Questions/Doubt thread
I don't know if it's really the current version of Firefox that's slow, or just Firefox after using it for a while.
I've noticed that when I first install Firefox (for Mac) it's zippity-doo-da fast. But as time goes on, it starts slowing down.
I've learned that clearing the cache, and also clearing the downloads list, helps to speed it up some.

I'm on an anti-anything-Google phase right now, so I don't know the first thing about Chrome.

Re: The Technical Questions/Doubt thread
I just had another thought. In Firefox, if you go to Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks, a separate little window opens listing all of your bookmarks. Maybe check Chrome and see if it works the same way. If it does, you can keep that little window open next to your browser window.

I would suggest getting chrome, you won't believe how much faster it is and easier to use..
for example, you can just type anything in address bar and search the web right there.

Re: The Technical Questions/Doubt thread
Yeah, I'm instantly in love with Chrome's speed. It's incredible. I agree with everyone giving it a shot at least.
I'll try out delicious (I already synced my bookmarks into Google's cloud space - Google really does know EVERYTHING about me - shudder). Keeping a separate window/tab open with organized bookmarks will probably take up too much RE for me.
Thanks for all the suggestions!

Delicious is nice about that. The add-in gives me a pinable sidebar that lets me navigate through tags (rather than folders), and it can auto-hide once I click one of my links. It's hard to explain but I love it. What's the Google service? Something in Labs?

It's a feature right in Chrome (called Sync) that lets you "sync" your bookmarks to your Google account. I already use everything else (gmail, voice, docs, picasa) so why not?
Last time my hard drive failed I was able to restore everything except my bookmarks (I didn't have a recent proper backup), so don't want to go through that again.

Re: The Technical Questions/Doubt thread
Any Android users here?
Question: My GF bought a Motorola Defy Mini (not available in the US). It comes with Android 2.3, but only 128 MB internal memory (I told her to wait for me to go shopping, but noooooooooooooo!). She installed a 16 GB sd card, but still, some (most) apps load into the internal memory, which is too small.
Is there a way to make all apps install in the SD, so she can open some space in the internal memory?
