I don't know what's wrong with asking Yohanna to come up with another song.

I thought she looked familiar, but I couldn't place her. Thanks for the info.

FYI, she did much better when she performed it again at the end of the show after being declared the winner. She handled the key change MUCH better and actually got up to the high notes, unlike in this performance.

Now I'm off to watch the others you've posted.

    Re: Eurovision 2010!

I can't decide if I'm crazy about Armenia's selection or if I'm ultimately going to hate it. I think I'm going to end up loving it.

The chorus of Cyprus' song literally consists of only three or four vocal notes. And he does nothing at all with it until the final chorus.

My jaw fell to the floor on Denmark's song. That's going to be AWFULLY tough to beat!

I've already commented on Iceland's selection.

I had to cut off the The Netherlands' entry at :32. I had forgotten how awful that song is. We should send Mr. Koffie some flowers.

I LOVE Norway's song this year. His voice is so pure, very much like Yohanna's. But it's also substantially more shaky. I wonder if the nerves will get to him, especially with the weight of expectations of representing last year's winner. But so far, this is my #2 choice behind Denmark.

Poland's entry is very sexy in an twisted and uncomfortable sort of way.

    ::

Are key changes mandatory for Eurovision entries? LOL!

I'm disappointed with the number of ballads so far this year. Hopefully the other entries we haven't seen yet will pick up the tempo. It's funny how Iceland had success with a ballad last year and is this year going with a dance tune. Everyone else seems to be going the ballad route, following Iceland's lead from last year. At least Denmark and Norway have some energy.

I keep changing my mind about Armenia. LOL!

    And where's the sleaze?

After seeing the Danish entry and the obvious immense difference in quality, I think we should be banned for the next three years, or something to that extent. Sieneke's version of a already crappy song is an embarrassment to a LOT of people over here.

I sort of understand asking Kartner to write a song, but I REALLY don't understand accepting that song once he wrote it. As a songwriter shouldn't he have a lot of other songs lying around? And if not, can't they just say "sorry, Kartner" and go ahead with something else if Ik Ben Verliefd is it?

LOL. I haven't posted Albania yet because they haven't translated their entry into English yet like they've announced they will , but there's is uptempo. Slovakia's heavy front runner is uptempo too, and I love it. Hopefully they both sleaze it up come showtime. Sleaze is usually less present in National Finals than in the actual Eurovision performances.

And yes, key changes are pretty much mandatory .

Apparently, it's him or a former porn star, so...

There's actually a pseudo-folk/comedy band that's pretty fun in contention, but they're kind of 8 years ago.

Wow, Denmark!!! I concur: great song! (And she's hot! She's half-Asian or something?)

    Armenia: Nice, but not remarkable.
    Cyprus: A completely forgettable ballad
    with Elena at IW 09!!!!

    Re: Eurovision 2010!

I've only listened to Denmark, Iceland, Armenia, and Cyprus' entries.

Denmark sooo stole their background music from somewhere. I just can't quite place it. I like it, though.

    I like Iceland's song.

Armenia's entry isn't anywhere near as good as last year's.

Cyrpus' is okay as well, but neither it nor Armenia will make it past the semi's, IMO.

It made me think of Tina's "Simply the Best". Am I close?

You may understand it, but there was little appreciation of that choice over here. Not that Kartner is a bad guy or a bad songwriter, he's just from a completely different generation and he was the ONLY one they asked to write something. Choosing to fish from a shallow pool will limit the chances of landing a decent catch, eyh?

I finally realized where they stole it from!

They stole the guitar part from The Police's "Every breath you take" and slowed it down.
