(CBS News) U.S. Postal inspectors are leading a federal investigation into whether former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky shared child pornography with other individuals, CBS News has learned.

Analyzing a computer seized from Sandusky, investigators are also looking into whether he sent "seductive letters" across state lines for sexual purposes. Some of these letters were said to be sent to some of his sexual abuse victims.

The investigation, which was launched at the beginning of the year, is being carried out of the U.S. Postal Inspectors office in Harrisburg, Pa. and the U.S. Attorney Office of the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

Sandusky, Penn State's defensive coordinator during the program's best years, was arrested in November on dozens of child sex abuse charges. He was convicted in June of 45 criminal counts.

Philadelphia, PA, United States (4E Sports) – In another telling blow, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education has threatened to strip Penn State of its accreditation due to the university’s mishandling of the child abuse scandal involving former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.

After voting to place the school on warning status, the commission notified Penn State officials that the school’s accreditation was “in jeopardy” based on information contained in former FBI Director Louis Freeh’s report on Penn State’s handling of allegations against Sandusky.

According to the Freeh report, Penn State’s leadership showed “total and consistent disregard” for youths sexually abused by Sandusky, who was convicted on 45 counts involving child sex abuse. He is scheduled to be sentenced in September.

The commission also based its decision on the punishments levied by the NCAA against the school, in which Penn State was fined $60 million, banned from postseason play for four years, reduced their scholarship grants to athletes and stripped of more than 100 wins.

The commission asked Penn State to report by September 30 regarding the steps it is taking to ensure full compliance with accreditation requirements, as well as information about the school’s financial capacity to meet ongoing obligations considering the potential fallout from civil lawsuits expected over the scandal.

The commission will assemble a team to visit Penn State after the September report to evaluate the school’s performance.

If the commission withdraws Penn State’s accreditation, the school would face the loss of eligibility for federal student aid programs, guaranteed student loans, federal research grants and could lose eligibility for state aid.
Penn State Vice Provost for Academic Affairs Blannie Bowen said the university will resolve the commission’s concerns.

“This action has nothing to do with the quality of education our students receive,” Bowen said in a statement. “Middle States is focusing on governance, integrity and financial issues related to information in the Freeh report and other items related to our current situation.”

Bowen said the commission simply wants Penn State to “document that steps we have already taken and are planning to take will ensure our full compliance with its requirements”, adding that they expect no loss of accreditation.

“It is critical to emphasize that Middle States does not issue a warning unless the commission believes that an institution has the capacity to make appropriate improvements within a reasonable period and then sustain itself to stay in compliance,” Bowen said. “

I think the Penn State football program should be sanctioned and sanctioned hard.

I'm not sure that students who had nothing to do with the football program should be harmed. I understand that the school revolved around football culture but is the threat of University wide sanctions too much?

Minnesota State head football coach Todd Hoffner faces child pornography charges after being booked by Eagle Lake cops at his home today. The Division II Mavericks' coach has been on administrative leave since Friday after university officials escorted him off the practice field.

The AP says Hoffner hasn't been officially charged but that his booking records are related to child porn. Cops reportedly searched through the garbage at his home and took his car from the residence.

Hoffner has been head coach at the former Mankato State since 2008, compiling a 34-13 record and winning last year's Mineral Water Bowl.

From The Belgian F1 race the other night. I watched this live while waiting for the tennis to start. It was scary to witness...goodness knows how it actually felt in the cars.

A day of replacement referee miscues came to its climax as Arizona-Seattle ended up with the Seahawks being awarded an extra time out in the final moments in Glendale.

The trouble continued as the squad—led by referee Bruce Hermansen—attempted to cover up for allowing the extra stoppage by claiming an injury in the last two minutes that is accompanied by a stopped clock doesn't lead to a charged time out for the injured player's team. That's actually wrong, as Fox's referee expert Mike Pereira pointed out (stating that the only difference is that there's no ten-second runoff) and our own editor emeritus Will Leitch illustrated that the timeout was indeed charged at the time.

Jerry Lawler Collapses During Live Raw, Has CPR Performed As Michael Cole Informs Viewers “This Is Not Part Of The Show” [UPDATE]

    Timothy Burke

WWE's Raw has gone silent in Montreal tonight as wrestling legend Jerry "The King" Lawler collapsed at the announcer's desk and immediately received CPR during tonight's live airing of the program.

The show's currently airing without commentary as host Michael Cole informed viewers of Lawler's condition and assured them that it was "not part of the show." Spectators at the event can be seen in the above video completely ignoring the action in the ring and focusing on the medical attention being given to Lawler on the right side of the screen.

Cole attempted to continue with the commentary before apparently being pulled off the broadcast. The Montreal crowd, meanwhile, is chanting Lawler's name. We'll update this post as we learn for information. [USA]

Update (10:40 p.m.): Raw just reported Lawler is in a Montreal hospital and breathing on his own.

Update (10:57 p.m.): The latest TV update reports Lawler is responsive and awaiting a CT scan in a Montreal ER.

Update (12:40 p.m.): It's now believed Lawler suffered a heart attack.

One of my favorites (I have his book)...I watched tons of wrestling growing up, but now only a couple times a year...but when this happened I switched to watch. Was very hard to watch, especially since it was delayed here and I knew it was about to happen...you could see him holding his head and slumping over...then they kept having doctors run by and quickly switching camera angles.

Of course in wrestling world...62 is pretty old...hope he recovers.

Notre Dame has announced it is leaving the Big East for the ACC. They weren't a member for football, but were for all other sports.

Interesting, as the Big East scrambled to make up for losing West Virginia, Syracuse and Pittsburgh earlier this year, and has gone from being an East Coast conference to a national one by adding 8 schools (5 for all sports, 3 for football only), including Boise State, San Diego State and U of Houston.
    Good luck at Wimbledon, Kohli
