Faux News Hypes Tea Parties
Rick Santelli and CNBC may be keeping their distance from the tax day tea party movement Santelli inadvertently spawned in an on-air rant, but Fox News seems to be throwing everything it's got behind protests planned for April 15.
Fox anchors Sean Hannity and Neil Cavuto boarded the bandwagon first by signing on with tax day tea parties in Atlanta and Sacramento. Now Glenn Beck will be broadcasting from the Alamo in Texas and Greta Van Susteren will party in Washington, D.C., amounting to hours and hours of rotating live coverage of the anti-tax, anti-spending events.
"This year Americans across the country are holding tea parties to let politicians know that we've had enough," Beck said yesterday. "Celebrate with Fox News."

Has a network news organization ever stepped over the line and instead of simply presenting the news helped make the news? I don't remember a network doing anything like this before but I could be wrong.

I loved reading the comments... Especially the one asking where was all of this anti-tax, anti-spend outrage when Bush was borrowing $1.4 billion/day from China...
Anyway, I'm all for the right to protest. But I just can't get over the hypocrisy of it all. And the lies... Didn't the stimulus package include a middle class tax cut? The only thing that has changed is that Obama is letting some of the Bush tax cuts for filthy rich people expire... Big deal.
I can't imagine having to lie repeatedly to maintain the philosophical mirage...

So true Dry but the Maserati driving, Dom Perignon and single malt drinking crowd won't be the ones out in the street. The majority of people who show up will be the people who stand to gain nothing from keeping the Bush tax cuts in place. That is the sad part.
I also liked the comment about Republican's not really wanting to fund education because the "wrong people" would be the ones to benefit.

I still think these kinds of things are going to backfire. And there are some indicators that the economy MIGHT be slowly turning around. If that happens, I guess the conservative base will have to start re-rallying around Roe v Wade and gay marriage. Because they didn't get the failure they wanted. There's still a long way to go, though.
